Media Statement on Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma at Emerald Bay

Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma has been managed by
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts since its inception in 2003. The Hotel has been successful since its opening has garnered awards and accolades, including recognition from Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure, amongst others.

The Hotel is part of the Emerald Bay master development that is more than 500 acres in size and includes an extensive marina operation, an 18-hole championship golf course, a number of private homes and lots, a third party operated hotel and the Four Seasons Resort. In June of 2007, the owner of the master development, EBR Holdings Limited, was unable to meet its debt obligations and the master development was placed into receivership.

Since that time, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), the receiver, has worked diligently to identify a new owner for the master development, including the Hotel.

After much deliberation, and in the absence of being able to identify a new owner for the master development, the receivers announced today that they have reluctantly decided, after consultation with other stakeholders, to close the master development. This is a decision which was very difficult for the receivers to make, and they look forward to a point in the future when this development will reopen under new ownership and continue to contribute to the Exuma community.

Four Seasons has agreed to an orderly closure of the Hotel to guests effective as of May 26, 2009.

No time indication can be given on how long it will be before a sale of the assets of the master development is concluded or how long it will be before the master development reopens for business. During the temporary closing period, critical amenities at the master development, such as the water plant operations will be unaffected and will continue as normal.
