A fifteen-year veteran of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Michel Volk’s hospitality career has traversed the globe. Currently the Hotel Manager at the AAA Five Diamond, Forbes Five Star Four Seasons Hotel Boston, Volk oversees operations for the bustling 273-room property.

Volk brings to Boston a passion for travel and beyond compare guest service. “Our goal is to create exceptional experiences for each guest. And that begins with the feeling guests have from the moment they arrive – that they don’t have to worry about a thing.”

Previously, Volk acted as opening Resort Manager for the beautiful Four Seasons Resort Vail. Opening a hotel was an experience he calls both “fascinating and exhilarating.” The recipe for success? “Creating a hardworking team that was excited to be a part of something special and new.”

Before his time in Vail, Volk served as Hotel Manager at Four Seasons Tented Camp, an exotic Golden Triangle escape in Thailand. Volk relished the opportunity to be part of the unique surroundings and team structure. With 108 Thai employees, Volk assumed more of a teaching role, but also learned: “You don’t need to teach anyone to smile, or to have the right attitude. That is inherent.”

Volk’s career has led him to Four Seasons destinations in London, Philadelphia, Berlin, Paris and Provence as well. And prior to Four Seasons, Volk spent time at two luxury properties in Massachusetts: the Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod and the Wheatleigh Manor Hotel in Lenox.

A Luxembourgian by birth, Volk attended hospitality school in Luxembourg and Lausanne. An avid traveller, Volk has completed 10 safaris in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Ghana and Madagascar. His hobbies also include elephant polo playing, a skill Volk learned while in Thailand.

Now in Boston, Volk is thrilled to be joining an established team with deep community roots. “The Hotel is known for its level and quality of service. I am excited to have the chance to build on that.” Volk is joined by his wife Gisleine and young son Paul-Rubens; the family is looking forward to exploring New England and especially happy “to be near the ocean.”
