Feeling Good

Why does a stay at Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai feel so good?

Maybe it’s daily yoga sessions in an open air sala that was once a rice barn, practiced as the sun rises over the mountains. Perhaps it’s because the local builder and architect designed the Resort along feng shui power lines, aligning buildings for optimal spiritual energy. Or perhaps this sense of contentment can be attributed to the Buddhist priest who blessed the Resort on the day it opened in 1995.

Whatever its origin, there’s definitely something special about Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai.

A Magical Sight
The transition from day to evening is a magical time at Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, when gardeners light up over 300 torches in the rice field and around the Resort. The property takes on a mystical, magical feel as it twinkles in the light of the fire-lantern pots. The rice paddies were created to reflect the agricultural roots of the region and to be part of the Resort’s eco-friendly approach. The rice is harvested three times a year and stored in rice barns before being donated to a local temple. These barns are holy places where Mae Phosop, the Thai rice spirit, lives until it is time for the next sowing or harvest.
