Featuring new Family Villas, the Chuon Chuon Kids' Club, the Junior Cooking Academy, the Dragonfly Family Package and more
May 24, 2017,
Hoi An, Vietnam

Shining a lively light on culture, creativity and cuisine, Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An offers families an illuminating insight into Vietnam’s spectacular central heartland. From newly extended Family Villas to a Kids’ Club that’s a mini resort of its own, cooking academy experiences to intriguing UNESCO excursions, the Resort’s 14 hectares (35 acres) of gardens and kilometre (half mile) stretch of sand offer family-pleasing activities for the culturally curious and beach seekers alike.

New Family Villas

Newly extended, Family Villas give everyone a little extra room to breathe within 104 square metres (1,120 square feet) of space.  A separate en-suite children’s room complete with sofa bed, desk, television and games console, board games and kids’ amenities gives youngsters their own bolthole – leaving the stylish allure of the master bedroom intact, where a raised central platform houses the king-sized bed and bathing area enclosed in gossamer drapes.

At the back of the villa, the master bathroom opens onto a private garden with outdoor rain shower. Just a few steps off the beach, plump day beds allow for sunbathing on the outdoor terrace. Other child-friendly touches include mini robes and clothes hangers, games and treats.

The Chuon Chuon ("Dragonfly’") Kids’ Club

Also new, Chuon Chuon’s standalone building and enclosed grounds encompass a "mini resort" of maximum fun, with its own pool, multiple indoor and outdoor play areas plus a complimentary program of daily-changing flights of fancy for children aged 4 to 12.

Kids can splash in the shallow egg-shaped wading pool, relax on a mini poolside lounger, wiggle through worm tubes in the gardens or build sandcastles in the shaded sand area.  Inside, there’s a mini-kitchenette, aquarium and dolls’ houses for imaginative play, a gaming area focusing on dance and movement, and a dedicated craft corner.

Activities range from fruit carving, lantern making and kite flying to tennis, water gun fights and stilt walking; children can even help the gardeners in the on-site herb and vegetable farm.

Open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, children are entertained in age-appropriate groups by experienced, English-speaking staff and can pop in for an hour or two or stay all day. Lunch choices – including homemade ice cream – can be served on-site (additional charge).  Private babysitters can be booked 24 hours in advance at a nominal fee.

The Nam Hai Junior Cooking Academy and other on-site highlights

Unique to The Nam Hai, the Kids’ Club offering includes visits to The Nam Hai Junior Cooking Academy and original onsite temple as well as yoga experiences with the experts from The Heart of the Earth Spa. In addition, the Junior Cooking Academy runs for an hour each day (3:00–4:00 pm) teaching wannabe culinary pros a host of complimentary skills from rice paper rolling to cookie and biscuit baking, chocolate making and much more. Family Fun Cooking Academy Experiences and family spa rituals are also available, as are water sports, tennis, badminton, basketball (half court), volleyball, cycling and private cultural excursions: learn how to sail a basket boat; ride a water buffalo; try casting traditional fishing nets; or visit the spectacular UNESCO sites of Hoi An Ancient Town, Hue Imperial City and My Son temple ruins.

In addition, a host of unique on-site touches offer an illuminating insight into the customs and rituals of this very special region, from ceremonies at the on-site temple to the blessing of health, happiness and good fortune symbolised by the daily Candle Lighting Ritual. Last but by no means least, families are warmly invited to gather at The Heart of the Earth Spa each evening to float wishing candles on the lotus pond, accompanied by the healing sounds of crystal singing bowls.
