October 23, 2015,
Istanbul at Sultanahmet, Turkey

Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet relaunches its long awaited Friday wine tastings as of October 23, 2015. Set in the historical peninsula, wine tastings at Four Seasons offer time for friends to enjoy the last day of the week in the enchanting surroundings of the Old Town while "journeying" through Turkish vineyards and beyond.

A classic occasion for the last seven years, wine lovers are invited to experience these leisurely wine tastings at the Lounge and winter garden of Four Seasons every Friday from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. A wine flight from a different producer, grape or region is accompanied by a local cheese selection  The cheese buffet features a rich variety ranging from delicious Van herb cheese to Kars gruyere, smoked local goat cheese, Erzincan tulum and Konya mouldy cheese. These charming gatherings showcase selected local and imported wines to Hotel guests and visitors of the Old Town. Four Seasons hosts a wine expert from a different brand each week to provide further information on the grape or region.

There is more than one good reason to taste local wine when visiting Istanbul. Good wine has been produced in Turkey since Neolithic Hittite times, and still is. Turkey offers an array of different wines and styles, including intriguing domestic varieties. Several of Anatolia's climatic regions, including the Marmara and Aegean, the East and the Southeast, some with volcanic soil (such as Cappadocia), are suitable for producing wine grapes.
