Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole Launches Two New Summer Fly Fishing Excursions

March 2, 2017,
Jackson Hole, U.S.A.

Most fly fishermen and women have heard of Jackson Hole, as have most skiers - but for those who have yet to experience it, perhaps this summer is the chance. Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole has created a three-day fly fishing experience with its in-house fly fishing guide.  Experience what some call the "mecca of fly fishing" amid the grandeur of the Tetons and biting fish.

This three-day series of excursions is ideal for intermediate to expert skill levels and can be customised to fit any need. Each day guests will experience a different body of water and learn new approaches and techniques.

  • Day one will start with a float trip on the famous Snake River. The Snake River headwaters are just north of Jackson Hole in Yellowstone National Park, carving its course in front of the majestic Teton Mountain Range. This river is home to the Snake River fine-spotted cutthroat trout, one of seven cutthroat trout native to the Rockies, and solely found in the wilds of the Snake River Basin. The fine-spotted cutthroat is known for its eagerness to engulf top water flies, potentially making for an epic day of dry fly fishing.
  • Day two commences with a wade trip in the Salt River, a fairly small river that flows out of the Salt River Range in the western part of Jackson Hole, winding its way through ranch lands. This river is known for its substantial population of cutthroat, brown, and rainbow trout. Guests will travel with their guide to a private section of the Salt River, on the Cakebread Ranch, which is surrounded by 300 acres (120 hectares) of private land and 4.5 miles (7.3 kilometres) of flowing river.
  • Day three is enjoyed with a float trip on the Green River. Famous throughout the West, the Green provides a variety of water types for just about every angler.  After its inception high in the Wind River Mountain Range, the Green River meanders through ranch land and is home to the Colorado River and Snake River cutthroat, brook, brown and rainbow trout.  The possibility of catching a trophy fish or pining over “the one that got away” in the Green River is exceptional.

Every day includes transportation to and from Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole in one of the Resort's luxury SUVs. A gourmet lunch prepared by the Resort's renowned chefs is also provided and customised to guest’s preferences, and typically served on the river banks. All float trips are done in one of the Resort's custom made, hand crafted drift boats from Montana.

Trips can be booked directly through the concierge desk or Base Camp and require a minimum of 72-hour notice. The order of the trip may vary based on fishing conditions and weather. This package starts at USD 3,100 per person.

For the ultimate fly fishing experience, join Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole for a private one day excursion at Cakebread Ranch. Guests will travel from Jackson Hole Aviation in the privacy of their own helicopter. The 30 minute ride will include beautiful awe inspiring views of the valley below. Upon arrival guests will then spend the day enjoying their very own 300 acre (120 hectare) private ranch and a 4.5 mile (7.3 kilometre) span of the Salt River. Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole fly fishing guide will help guide the wade trip and point out some of his favourite fishing spots and tactics. Lunch is served on a private teak patio with views of the river and an Old Homesteaders fly shop cabin from the 1800s in the foreground. More fishing will commence after the catered lunch. In the afternoon guests will then be transferred back to Jackson Hole by helicopter where a cold beverage can be enjoyed as the alpine glow sets in.

Pricing for this experience begins at USD 5,100 for up to two guests.
