Play Like a Champion: Jack Nicklaus Signature Hualalai Golf Course

June 1, 2011,
Hawaii, Hualalai, U.S.A.

Like all the other splendid amenities at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus signature Hualalai Golf Course has been crafted with extreme sensitivity to the land. Winding over 7,100 yards, this carefully groomed course begins in a lush kipuka (oasis) and then flows across brilliant green fairways contoured against black lava. Finally, the course returns to the ocean, where the finishing holes capture the drama and the beauty of direct seaside golf.

Set against an exhilarating natural backdrop, the course is the first in Hawaii to be designated a PGA TOUR facility and plays host to the annual PGA Champions Tour.

The private course, open to Resort guests exclusively, is a par 72 with four tee locations at each hole. For guests interested in further refining their technique, a 320-yard practice area and driving range are available with 30 hitting stations, three target greens, a practice putting green and sand bunker, and a short game practice area.

And because this is golf with Four Seasons, your every need has been anticipated, from GPS systems and a kit full of essentials (ball markers, divot tools, sunscreen, etc.) on the carts, to on-course sunglass cleaning and shoe service. A beverage cart makes regular rounds, and there’s an air-conditioned comfort station at the ninth hole. Adventurous golfers are invited to play the course on one of the Resort’s unique Golfboards, an electric surf board turned golf cart.

For some rest and relaxation surround our golf experience, guests may enjoy our 14,000 square foot (1,300 square metre) golf clubhouse, adjacent to the course, providing mens’ and womens’ locker rooms, pro shop, and bag storage areas. Open for late afternoon drinks and dinner, The Hualalai Grille overlooks the 18th green, and serves a traditional steakhouse menu with a Hawaiian slant.

Our team of pros off private lessons for all levels – from beginners to those wanting to brush up on aspects of their game, long or short. Individual, small group and family lessons are available, tailored specifically to what the guest wishes to work on. On-course playing lessons are also available. Complimentary clinics in putting, chipping and bunkering are held weekly.
