Madersa Ben Youssef  

This ancient koranik school is one of the jewels of Marrakech architecture, characterised by the diversity of its decorations and its colours. The magnificent zellij of various colours and geometric shapes on the walls’ bottoms and on the pillars will allow you to take stylish pictures. Do not miss the traditional basin in the centre of the courtyard, offering you the possibility to catch reflects in the water.  

Majorelle Garden  

Majorelle Garden is a must-see, created by the French painter Jacques Majorelle in the 1920s and magnificently restored by the late French designer Yves Saint Laurent. The vibrant primary colours omnipresent in the garden, including the “Majorelle blue,” are perfect to take some shots. This legendary garden is an oasis, decorated in an Art Deco style, and featuring numerous exotic plants, palm trees and pools filled with lotus flowers and fishes.

Palais Bahia  

The best workers and craftsmen of the country worked continuously for six years (1894-1900) to build this large house for the vizier Ahmed ben Moussa. This masterpiece of Moroccan architecture possesses two riads and two courtyards joined together and give a great impression of the lifestyle of Moroccan noblemen. The large courtyard called "Court of Honor" is made of marble and zellij, and is surrounded by a gallery with carved wooden columns. You should plan to visit it at its opening, to enjoy a peaceful viewing and to avoid people on your pictures’ background. Palmeraie  

Before the sunset, go for a ride in the Palmeraie, counting more than 100,000 palm trees on approximately 15,000 hectares. The area around the palm grove also hosts many luxury hotels, majestic residences, golf courses and swimming pools. It’s an idyllic setting that many celebrities visit throughout the year.

The ultimate timing to take pictures is when the sun goes down, showcasing palm trees’ black shapes ahead of the colourful sky. You may even want to book a camel ride to add a Moroccan touch on your pictures.

Souks  

In the heart of the Medina, get lost in the bustling souks full of colours, ambiance and beauty. The atmosphere showcasing inspiring authentic daily life moments and the ray lights passing through the handmade roofs are ideal to shot magical scenes. We would advise you to use precaution if you desire to take a craftsman working or just a Marrakchi’s portrait, by asking them beforehand.

Graffiti <ade in Marrakech  

By experiencing a street art renaissance, Marrakech proves once again that it is the city of art and culture. Street art appears always pleasant on a picture.

As a matching project to the 6th Marrakech Biennale in 2016, a program called MB6 Street Art reunited 11 artists to create a series of murals dispersed through the medina. You can find them at the opposite entrance to Palais Bahia, at the rue de Tetouan and at 2 rue dar el bacha. Others are drawn in coffee shops, restaurants and riads, including Café des épices, Nomad, Riad Laarouse, Café Clock. Storks Nestled in El Badii Palace

This rammed-earth, 16th-century royal palace was considered one of the wonders of the Muslim world. Standing among its ruins, you can observe on the top of the walls many storks and their nests. In Marrakech, storks are designed as holy animals. In the past, the Amazighs assumed the storks to be transformed in humans. Until today, it is forbidden to disturb a stork and who does so is subject to few months in jail.
