Toes in the Sand: Mexico’s Best Beach Vacation

Everyone has their own checklist when searching for a sunny vacation destination, but for just about everyone, one thing tops the list: a great beach.  At Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, along with luxurious accommodations, excellent restaurants, a world class spa, gorgeous pools, championship golf and myriad activities for all ages, it’s not one but two fabulous white-sand beaches along turquoise blue waters.

Divided by La Roca – a rocky peninsula jutting into the Pacific Ocean – the Resort’s two beaches are secluded on the tip of the Punta Mita peninsula, offering a virtually private playground for guests and residents of Four Seasons.

To the east and below the Resort’s popular Nuna Pool is Playa Manzanillas, named for the flowering trees that line it. The on-property Tropicsurf school is located here for those who want to catch a few waves before venturing up the coast to try some of Mexico’s best breaks along the Riviera Nayarit, and those looking for a fun way to keep fit can try the stand up paddling (SUP) with the help of the Tropicsurf watersports instructors.

For a completely different perspective, Four Seasons recommends flyboarding, offered in partnership with Vallarta Adventures.

For those who want to chill out with a cool drink in hand, swinging wooden daybeds and hanging “nest” chairs are perfect for lazy days basking in the sun.

On the other side of La Roca, beneath the Bahía oceanfront grill, is Playa Las Cuevas - meaning “caves” in Spanish – with recent enhancements creating Mexico’s best beach scene. Canopied wooden daybeds and hanging woven chairs amid the palm trees and a funky beach bar invite socialising and sunset cocktails.

The Shack offers tropical cocktails – such as the Machete, a smoky mezcal drink infused with watermelon and chilies - international wines and ice cold beers, including the Resort’s exclusive Cora label.  Fresh local bites include such temptations as kumai oysters or coconut fish ceviche.

For little kids and grown up kids too, Four Seasons has all the toys, from paddle balls and Frisbees to kayaks and boogie boards, and they’ll even set up an impromptu beach volleyball game or salsa lessons in the sand.  Children are also invited to attend piñata parties on the beach, hosted by the Kids for All Seasons program.

And at Four Seasons, we believe that even the most casual settings can be a luxury experience – all guests enjoy signature Four Seasons resort service, from chairside food and beverage delivery to fresh fluffy towels, sunglasses cleaning and complimentary water spritzes and fruit skewers.
