Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo
Peninsula Papagayo, Guanacaste, Costa Rica

The Spa Launches New Treatment Menu – Indigenous Decadence. Since the dawn of humankind, indigenous healers have used the rainforest for medicinal cures and herbal remedies.

The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica looked to the country’s ancient holistic philosophies and rainforests to incorporate natural ingredients into its new menu.

The Spa has launched a series of new massages and treatments, including natural healing bamboo massage, ear candling and mom-to-be pregnancy massage. Innovative new spa retreats focus on energy and revitalization. The new holistic full-body rebalancing retreat uses a form of vibration therapy, a Tibetan singing bowl and quartz crystals for chakra balancing. Four Seasons has also paired up with michealmarcus Cosmetics, a mineral make-up line, which is fast becoming the favourite for women over 35. The products are available for complimentary use in The Spa’s dressing room and can be purchased in the gift shop.

The Spa uses local organic plants, fruits and flowers for their strong healing properties in its treatments, such as in the Costa Rican coffee scrub, volcanic mud wrap and healing hot stone massage. The coffee scrub uses freshly ground coffee beans combined with natural oils that increase circulation, while the mud for the mud wrap is taken from deep within the Costa Rican earth and is abundant with trace minerals. The hot stone massage uses heated volcanic and river stones to loosen taut muscles and unlock energy within the body.

The secret to The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica lies not only in its nurturing staff and organic treatments but also in its tranquil design. Interior designer Richard Brayton of BraytonHughes Design Studios pays homage to the breathtaking beauty of Costa Rica. “In Costa Rica, the land is architecture; you can see the lava that formed the peninsula. We took that feeling indoors,” he says. The airy spa features eight massage rooms, three couples massage treatment rooms, seven wet treatment rooms with showers, four facial treatment rooms and three pedicure stations. It is accented with textured rattan furniture, limestone marble and jade green glass tiles to incorporate the elements of wood, stone, earth and water into the decor.

Never separating itself from nature, The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica is a setting where both the indoors and outdoors blend together to create one tremendous oasis of relaxation and renewal.
