At Four Seasons, the centrepiece of festive celebrations is the 18-metre (59-foot) Christmas tree at the Grand Stairs, created by the Hotel’s renowned florist, Serge Marzetta. A special structure was custom-built to support 700 kilograms (1,540 pounds) of foliage and decorations, with 432 metres (1,420 feet) of rope, seven iron rings and a winch to keep it standing tall. Eight florists spent three days creating and decorating the tree, which is made of more than 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of cryptomeria (Japanese cedar), 500 aspidistra leaves and 300 giant blooms composed of gilded hydrangeas. Encircling the tree are 650 metres (2,130 feet) of garlands holding an astonishing 4,200 light bulbs.
Four Seasons chefs have also been preparing for the festive season, with delicious menus to be introduced on Christmas Eve for celebrations culminating in the New Year’s dinner and dance featuring music by internationally renowned StreetLIVE Family.
