Not-So-Wild Things – The New “Elephant Herd” at Four Seasons Hotels Thailand. “I wish I could take the elephants home with me!” is a familiar refrain of guests at Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle at the end of their jungle adventure.
Now they can – Four Seasons Hotels Thailand is pleased to introduce a newborn toy elephant herd modelled after the Tented Camp’s own rescued elephants.
Each toy elephant sits, reclines or stands in his or her favourite posture, making it easy to tell them apart. A tag includes their date of birth, pedigree and specific character traits. Here are the descriptions courtesy of their mahouts:
Yuki
Snow. Born: 1987. Well-travelled ex-international-supermodel who worked in Japan and the Philippines but has given up the jet-set lifestyle to relax in the Tented Camp.
Boun Maa
To Bring Merit. Born: not telling. A Northern lady who didn’t take to forest work and headed for the city, living out her latter years in the mountains close to home.
Boun Liang
Fated To Be Lucky By Deeds In A Past Life. Born: 1966. Rugged country boy originally from the mountains close to Burma, now living as the big brother with his elephant family.
Phuang Phet
Bunch of Diamonds. Born: around 1974. Graceful ex-city-girl with expensive tastes, now enjoying the quieter life in the Golden Triangle
Thong Kam
Golden. Born: 1957. Our jungle pop queen from the South, with rhythm in her heart.
Kam Mool
Gold River. Retired. A reliable lady from North-eastern Thailand, pragmatic but mischievous, slow in work and fast in fun, she has now retired to do charity work.
Available at any Four Seasons Hotel or Resort in Thailand, individually for THB 500.00 or as a full set, each sale will generate funds for the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation, which aims to rescue elephants from Thailand’s city streets to provide them with a safe and humane environment in the jungles of Northern Thailand’s Golden Triangle.
The elephants of Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle and the foundation in their name have inspired many fundraising efforts, including shoes by Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik specifically designed for the GTAEF, as well as top-rated Cabernet Sauvignon wine from Napa’s Juslyn Vineyards boutique winery, which donates proceeds from the sale of its wines to the fund.
