Four Seasons Resort Hualālai at Historic Ka'ūpūlehu
72-100 Ka`upulehu Drive, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, U.S.A. 96740

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai Unveils Beach Tree. Beach-side restaurant, bar and lounge opens with new look, new chef, new menu.

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai has unveiled Beach Tree, the AAA Five Diamond resort’s gloriously transformed beachfront restaurant, bar and lounge, which is open to Resort guests and the public. Located directly on the sand, Beach Tree exudes the ambience of a Hawaiian beach house, with 16-foot (5-metre) vaulted ceilings, expansive outdoor seating and unfiltered views of the ocean. With comfortable custom furnishings complemented by mahogany, cedar and exotic Hawaiian woods and natural Hawaiian textiles, Beach Tree is where guests unwind, reconnect and celebrate at the ocean’s edge.

New Chef de Cuisine Nick Mastrascusa, who joins Four Seasons Resort Hualalai from 57 at Four Seasons Hotel New York, oversees a menu featuring the best of California with Italian and tropical influences. Small plates including Crispy Fish “Minutas” with Lemon Aioli, Chilled Mango Gazpacho, and Ceviche are followed by brick-oven pizzas such as Gorgonzola with Macadamia Nuts and Fig and fresh pastas such as Tagliatelle with Clams, Mussels and Shrimp. Burgers made with grass-fed Big Island Beef are served on Brioche buns, while Chef Nick’s Seafood Paella for two features saffron-scented Calasparra rice, from a village in Spain, and Big Island Lobster, and is completed with aged sherry at tableside. Other entrées include a Brick-Oven-Roasted Veal Chop and a Grilled Rib-Eye Steak, along with sides such as Shoestring Potatoes and Sautéed Hamakua Mushrooms. Desserts range from Kona Coffee Tiramisu to the signature Beach Tree Banana Split.

Beach Tree’s wine list includes 66 choices by the glass, carafe or bottle, with bottles priced at USD 40.00, USD 60.00 and USD 80.00. While predominantly California-focused, the wine list includes distinguished selections from France, Italy and Spain as well. In addition, Beach Tree offers an extensive selection of cocktails, including daiquiris, mojitos, mai tais and margaritas that are made to order with fresh tropical fruits plucked from nets hanging from the rafters over the bar. Overstuffed sofas and chairs in the indoor-outdoor lounge, along with board games and a beach bocce ball court, entice guests to linger. Live entertainment is featured from the sunset hour throughout the evening.

Children will enjoy Beach Tree’s “Keiki” Menu that features kids’ favourites such as Mac and Cheese, Mini Pizzas and Peanut-Butter-Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches. An array of children’s table activities and such gadgets as a rotating pasta fork and an ice cream cone spinner keep kids entertained while their parents enjoy their meal.

Beach Tree is the centrepiece of Four Season Resort Hualalai’s 15-month, USD 40-million property enhancement that also includes 20 new suites, a sweeping expansion of Hualalai Spa and stylish new retail boutiques.
