Take two yachts, six speedboats, five double kayaks, one single kayak, five compasses and what do you have? The latest team-building group activity at Four Seasons Resort Langkawi.

New for 2012, the Amazing Sea Safari Race sees a minimum of 40 people embark on a thrilling team treasure-hunt via yachts, speedboats and kayaks deep into the Kilim Karst Geoforest Park – a 400-million year old labyrinth of limestone cliffs and tangled mangrove forests just minutes by boat from Four Seasons Resort Langkawi.

Teams must navigate by compass along narrow channels, following clues and photographic identification. They then disembark at a remote beach for blindfolded challenges that will involve every ounce of leadership, coaching and teamwork they can muster. With no two boats sharing the same channel and unique questions standing between each group and overall glory, it’s an adrenalin-fuelled foray into the depths of nature and the strength of one’s own base instincts.

Team Building at Four Seasons Resort Langkawi

Other team-building activities include: Sail the Southern Seas – a race against the wind and each another via the deserted islands of the southern coast; and Lost Legends of Langkawi, a wild car rally along the island’s forest tracks, hill roads and beach trails in search of eight secret spots where tantalising challenges await.

In addition to developing teamwork, communication skills and lateral thinking, each event offers the opportunity to immerse in Langkawi’s incredible natural beauty and pervading sense of space, freedom and adventure. And they’re all benefits that can be enjoyed year-round: Langkawi is blessed with consistently warm temperatures, and its calm, sunny climate is free from major storms.

The Space to Think, the Freedom to Soar

Pulau Langkwai is the largest of Langkawi’s 99-island archipelago, a geological and ecological wonderland of 400-million-year-old rock formations, mysterious mangroves and ancient rainforest. Here, Four Seasons combines artful design and all-pervading serenity with a wholesome connection with nature. An endless sense of space encourages clarity and calm, while segregated meetings rooms, private cabanas, countless hideaways and thrilling team-building activities offer groups of up to 120 the space to think – and the freedom to soar.

The Resort’s traditional Malay village-design weaves through acres of beachfront gardens dotted with al fresco restaurants, palms and lotus ponds. The holistic Spa draws on the healing properties of native botanicals to inspire wellness and wholeness. And just minutes from the Resort’s beach, deserted islands and UNESCO-protected mangrove forests host the ultimate adventures between land and sea.

Meeting facilities at the Resort include 200 square metres (2,150 square feet) of indoor function space and 276 square metres (2,970 square feet) of outdoor function space overlooking the Andaman Sea and tropical gardens. Four open-air dining venues offer cuisine from Malay and Chinese to Mediterranean and Italian. In addition, barbecues on a beach lit by tiki torches or tented dinners under starry skies ensure an outstanding evening for any group. The Resort’s team of conference and banqueting specialists painstakingly tailors every aspect of every event, with comprehensive recreation, spouse and family programs also available.
