Four Seasons Resorts Lanai debuts the Malama Ka Aina libation on the Resorts' sustainable Cocktails for a Cause menu. Inspired by the "100 Mile" movement that focuses on products grown or produced within 100 miles of the destination, the Resorts have added yet another green touch to the menu in an effort to give back to the land while awarding guests something sweet to sip.

"Four Seasons is dedicated to doing our part to conserve energy and precious natural resources on Lanai, so it was only natural to incorporate ‘acts of green’ into the cocktail menu,” says Tom Roelens, general manager of Four Seasons Resorts Lanai. “Our first two sustainable cocktails – the TREEtini and Ultimate G&T - have been well received and allow guests to do their part to reduce an individual’s carbon footprint, even when they are relaxing poolside sipping a beverage.”

Following the lead of Executive Chef Kevin Erving’s farm-to-table philosophy of “know your farmer, know your food,” Beverage Manager Jeremy Sidman has developed the refreshingly light Malama Ka Aina blend to highlight the abundance of fresh, local ingredients found throughout Hawaii. Malama Ka Aina, meaning "respecting the land," features five premium ingredients found within a 100 mile radius of Lanai.

The beverage plays out like an ancient Polynesian voyage, gathering key ingredients from the neighbour islands - both from the land and sea. The poetic journey begins on Lanai with rosemary grown in Manele Bay’s own herb garden and lemongrass syrup handcrafted by Executive Pastry Chef Rabii Saber; then continues to Hawaii Island with organic raw honey from Volcano Island Honey Company. Rounding out the recipe is the base spirit Ocean Vodka, which is handcrafted on Maui. The recipe concludes on Oahu with the final touch, fresh calamansi (a sour citrus fruit) to add balance. The result of the ingredients is a light and refreshing infusion.

Small sips go the extra mile towards a healthier environment. Whether raising a glass to the Malama Ka Aina, TREEtini or Ultimate G&T, Resort guests can add some green into their lives and take pride in making a positive impact in paradise - one sip at a time.
