Four Seasons Resort Seychelles
Petite Anse, Baie Lazare, Mahé, Seychelles

The Steak Shack at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles Hits the Spot for Easter. Resort embraces the pop-up restaurant phenomenon with the opening of the Steak Shack.

The pop up restaurant phenomenon has hit the Indian Ocean as Four Seasons Resort Seychelles brings the Steak Shack to life this Easter.

With prime cuts of beef, local catches of red snapper and tuna steak, and lobster tail grilled to order in the open air and served with a range of indulgent side dishes, the Steak Shack offers an alternative dining experience for guests and visitors at the Resort.

The bench seating and laid-back, feet-in-the-sand atmosphere exudes a feeling of real island living: Robinson Crusoe, Four Seasons-style. The Steak Shack is set up around wooden beach cabanas next to the beautiful white sand beach at the Resort in Petite Anse on the Seychelles mainland of Mahé. Local Takamaka rum cocktails are served alongside buckets of ice cold beer, and allow the fantastic food to speak for itself, while local musicians play on in the background.

The Resort has two permanent open air restaurants: Kannel, serving Creole and Asian inspired fare in relaxed, locally-inspired surroundings at the pool side, and ZEZ, serving modern European cuisine with spectacular views of the Indian Ocean from its hillside site. The Steak Shack concept was born out of the idea of creating a third space to give an additional dining option for long-stay guests during the festive period over Christmas and New Year.

The pop-up was so successful that it is returning over the Easter period in April. Freddie Khoo, director of food and beverage at the Resort, believes the key to the Steak Shack’s success lies in its simplicity. “We use amazing quality steaks and fresh, locally caught seafood, which are simply but expertly prepared, all served with the easy, natural, and friendly style that comes so naturally as part of the warm Seychelles welcome.”

The side dishes on offer, including parmesan and truffle oil hand-cut fries, sour cream mash, and Guinness-battered onion rings, have become the stuff of legend, with guests wanting to know when the Shack is coming back.

Alex Porteous, general manager at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles, welcomes the innovation. “The Steak Shack is a fantastic example of a great idea turned into a great product, which has really enhanced our guests’ experience at the Resort.”

The Steak Shack is open through April 14, 2012 and will pop up again later in the year.
