As the city’s first restaurant with a Certified Tobacconist, BOURBON STEAK at Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC, is smoking out the competition. Helming the program with the same aptitude as a head sommelier, the resident expert Mason Foster has exacted new initiatives to make it a white-hot destination for cigar service. In addition to curating a dynamic list and providing intensive staff training, he will soon debut BOURBON STEAK’s first Sip & Smoke cigar and beverage pairing menu, which will launch with a special one-week offering on the patio.

While pursuing his certification through Tobacconist University of Princeton, New Jersey, Mason excelled in the area of beverage pairings with an in-depth understanding of how pH level and alkalinity impact taste. Going beyond the standard whiskey-and-cigar duo, the Sip & Smoke pairing menu showcases a carefully selected rotation of premium cigars with a range of unorthodox, complementary drinks intended to enhance the experience. From craft cocktails to fine wines and spirits, his choices push the envelope of accepted standards – like his decision to pair a robust Avo Classic #9 with a fruity, tannic Ruinart Brut Rosé.

The menu will be unveiled the same day as the patio’s season opening with a special weeklong Sip & Smoke launch from Monday, March 27 to  Friday, March 31, 2017. Throughout launch week, guests who order a cigar during the special “after dinner” hours of 8:00 to 10:00 pm will receive a complimentary one-ounce pour of Angel’s Envy bourbon to enjoy with their smoke.
