The Root of Wellness: Four Seasons Hotel Beijing Introduces 2019 Visiting Masters
Behind every cutting-edge spa discovery lies centuries of ancient healing traditions. This year, The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Beijing is inviting its guests to peel back the layers of innovation and explore “The Roots of Wellness” through four exceptional guest masters.
With skills ranging fromi Imperial Chinese techniques to sacred Hawaiian healing, each master opens a window onto ancient methods with the power to resolve many modern-day problems.
From now on, The Spa will offer The Royal Treatment services of renowned Imperial therapist Zhang Hong Guo every Tuesday. In addition, three additional guest masters will visit in March, May, and June respectively, to further widen wellness opportunities for guests.
“The secrets to much of what we seek in modern-day life – from fast wellness fixes to increased global connectivity – have already been discovered many centuries ago,” shares the Hotel’s Spa Director Julia Li. “Our 2019 Visiting Masters Program packages some of these profound balancing techniques into easily accessible treatments that offer ancient resolutions for modern problems.”
Introducing this year’s visiting masters:
Zhang Hong Guo, The Royal Treatment: every Tuesday throughout 2019
Passed down through the generations from masters to mentees, The Royal Treatment descended from Zhao Xi Chen, Imperial Physician in the Qing Dynasty. Drawing on Traditional Chinese techniques such as pulse diagnosis, Chinese massage, acupuncture, moxibustion and bonesetting, it uses gentle, rapid touches to diagnose and address a range of illnesses and issues, from serious back issues to even slight bone discrepancies that an x-ray can't show. Dr. Zhang’s treatments include:
- Royal Meridian Adjustment (90 minutes CNY 2,250++) - A gentle and accurate technique that adjusts the inner balance of the viscera (the five organs that comprise the body’s basic system) and arouse self-healing.
- Physical Therapy of Traditional Chinese Techniques (60 minutes CNY 500-1,000++) - A series of external Chinese treatments – including acupuncture, moxibustion, scrapping and cupping – used to prevent and treat disease.
- Bonesetting Massage (CNY 680++ per body part) - A treatment that restores the optimum position of bones and heals muscle strains – the ideal remedy for sports injuries, soft tissue contusion and physical pain.
Sabina Mallanalli Visarraga, Lomi Lomi Nui: March 7-16, 2019 (120 minutes CNY 2760+)
Sabina Mallanalli Visarraga grew up immersed in the native practices of her curendera family (Latin American healers). She expanded her wellness reach studying Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese herbology and acupuncture to become a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, then spent 10 years learning the art of sacred Hawaiian healing, from plant medicine and Aztec methods to lomi lomi massage. Today, she pours her immense knowledge into Lomi Lomi Nui: profound "loving hands" bodywork that uses "flying" steps and flowing movements to uplift and balance body, mind and spirit.
Louis Adrien Ollu, Osteopathic Treatment: May 3-12, 2019 (60 minutes CNY 1600+)
Louis has dedicated his life to the study of traditional and holistic Eastern and Western modalities to diagnose and fix root imbalances using manual techniques. Drawing on his Masters in Osteopathy and post graduate training in paediatric osteopathy, women’s Health, Traditional Chinese Medicine and allergy desensitisation, he is best known for his "Osteopathic Desengrammation": a gentle energetic cranial osteopathy that can treat any physiologically reversible condition, from skin conditions to allergies, digestive, sleep or fertility issues to muscle stiffness, hormonal imbalances and more.
Ryoma Ochiai, Oriental Massage: June 7-16, 2019 (90 minutes CNY 2100+)
A true people’s person, Ryoma combines his passion for sociology, Thai massage, Japanese acupuncture, moxibustion and electronic music as an organiser of festivals and cultural events, where he uses massage as a tool to connect with and support people on their own life journey. He offers four relaxing therapies: Original Body “Fine-Tuning,” a therapeutic muscle realignment massage; Shiatsu/Anma Massage, a bespoke Asian bodywork massage that releases energy blockages; Thai Massage, full body pressure and stretching that works with the body’s energy lines; and Full Body Stretch Massage, different from Thai massage as it focuses on stretching several points together.
