Four Seasons has welcomed the return of Maria Sabella to Beirut - the city she has always considered a second home - as the Hotel's Director of Marketing.

Born and raised in Amman, Jordan, Sabella is no stranger to Beirut. She is a graduate of the American University of Beirut where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, before returning to Jordan and working for the American Chamber of Commerce in Amman.  

"Part of my job was organising events in hotels around the city, which gradually got me attracted to this industry that I knew nothing of, but was keen on discovering. As I made my way to work every day, I could see the opening soon sign for Four Seasons Hotel Amman and applied as soon as they started recruiting. I joined the pre-opening team as Administrative Assistant in Sales and Marketing, and the rest was history."

Being ambitious, and not long after joining the company, Sabella realised that she needed to do more, hence moved to reservations where she was promoted to Reservations Manager in early 2005.

"It wasn't until I participated in a pivot table training, which got me acquainted with revenue management, that I knew that this was going to be my next calling."

In 2007, Sabella was promoted to Director of Reservations and Revenue Management and took a deep dive into the world of numbers.

"After several years in this role, I was ready to explore new experiences abroad. In 2010, Prague beckoned and I quickly jumped at the opportunity of a European adventure, which then took me to Geneva where I assumed the role of Director of Revenue, and later on was put in charge of the Sales and Marketing Division."

After a journey with Four Seasons that has given her three assignments, several task forces around the world, eight years in Europe and work with eight different Directors of Marketing, Sabella decided it was time for her to jump into a leadership role and lead a team of her own, and what better opportunity to do that than in the "Switzerland of the Middle East," aka Lebanon.

"This Hotel is an icon in the city and it’s a dream to be part of the Four Seasons Hotel Beirut family, especially after helping out in the pre-opening phase. This really feels like coming full circle. My objective is for this Hotel to continue being the address in the city, with its renowned service and the benchmark that it truly is."

An avid foodie, Sabella recommends visitors coming to Beirut to, "have dinner at one of the many neighbourhood restaurants offering myriad cuisines from around the world." When not trying new restaurants, she is travelling to new places and discovering local foods as part of the trip.
