“Our guests are here to relax, be pampered, and to escape,” says Dr. Bruno Maillard, Resort Doctor at Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora. “My role here is to ensure we adhere to the Lead With Care program, assist guests as needed, and to help them stay healthy so they can thoroughly enjoy their stay.”

A native of Troyes, France, Maillard grew up surrounded by rolling hills and Champagne vineyards. There, he would later work to harvest the prized grapes and learn the science of the world’s most famous celebratory beverage.

His interest in science evolved over the years, leading Maillard to enroll in medical school in France and follow the path to becoming a doctor, earning his graduate and post-graduate degrees in French Guiana. From his start as an orthopedic surgery assistant in Reims, France, to general practice on the islands on Guadeloupe and Martinique, as well as in Ardeche, France, he has seen the world and perfected the bedside manner he is known for. His philanthropy work includes a humanitarian aid summer mission with the Oblate Sisters in Ecuador. In 2019, Maillard journeyed to French Polynesia to begin a private practice in Bora Bora. In 2020, he joined Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora as Resort Doctor.

Dr. Maillard speaks English, French, and Spanish, and enjoys scuba diving, sailing, hiking, astronomy, fishing, music, reading, and time with his two children Marcel and Marilou.
