“Ever since I was a kid, I used to cook with my mother and watching cooking shows with her, so I am definitely all about homemade style food, but being exposed to different trends and Asian-style cooking made me want to explore and further my skills by becoming a chef.”

Known for his extraordinary palate, Muhamad Nazlan has mastered his skills by working within different style of cuisines over the years. “I learned the art of sushi making when I was very young, and been exposed to mastering some Thai signature dishes and Chinese cuisine as well.”

On top of his passion to cooking and learning more about food, Nazlan loves the occasional fishing trip, spending time with his wife and kids and listening to reggae music during his down time.

“Being an experienced Asian chef definitely has had its challenges. It takes palate, practice and technique to become a skilled chef; I had to broaden my knowledge by watching chefs such as Shigeki Limura do what they do best and get into the latest cooking style trends to attract people and draw them to your restaurant.”

Chef Nazlan came to Cairo in early 2019 to become Nairu’s Head Chef. “As much as I consider it a blessing and a privilege to become Nairu’s Head Chef, Cairo’s first Pan Asian restaurant and lounge that serves Thai, Japanese and Indian cuisine, it is an exciting opportunity to introduce such diverse, rich cuisines that have unique flavours to Cairo guests. An ideal setting - a modern Asian setting overlooking the Nile; our vibrant menu does surely have the right recipe to make this one of Cairo’s trendiest dining scenes.”
