Athens, Greece

Capping another stellar year on the Athenian Riviera, Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens has been named #17 in The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2025. The accolade marks a proud moment for one of Greece’s most celebrated luxury hotels—standing once again among the world’s finest after its debut in the inaugural 2023 list.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels features industry-defining hotels spanning six continents, reflecting exceptional hotel experiences around the globe, collated from the votes of 800 anonymous experts — including hoteliers, travel journalists, educators and seasoned luxury travellers.

The recognition by The World’s 50 Best Hotels follows a string of accolades for the 303-key property, including its 2023 Forbes Five-Star debut and three Michelin keys in 2025. Set on a 30-hectare (75-acre) peninsula on the glittering Athenian Riviera, the legendary retreat has welcomed icons such as Brigitte Bardot, Jackie Onassis, Sean Connery and Nelson Mandela. Today, it continues to blend timeless glamour with contemporary sophistication, reaffirming its status as Greece’s most celebrated seafront sanctuary.

“It’s an honour for us to once again be recognised among the world’s best,” comments General Manager Jann Kaiser. “This recognition reflects our team’s genuine dedication to creating memorable experiences, where guests are invited to come as they are and engage with the destination on their own terms. It inspires us to keep reimagining modern luxury—rooted in heritage, shaped by innovation, and brought to life through the passion of our people.”

Framed by fragrant pine forests, Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens captures the essence of Greece in a single destination—where land, sea and culture collide. Just 30 minutes from both the airport and Athens’ UNESCO landmarks, this Athenian Riviera retreat blends rustic Greek charm with refined exclusivity. Three private beaches and two pools spill out onto the Aegean, while sun-dappled docks invite guests to set sail for the island landscapes of the Saronic Gulf and Cyclades.

A stylish year-round destination, the resort embraces 2025’s cooler season with dynamic winter offerings—led by a passionate team and underpinned by philoxenia (hospitality) and meraki (passion and care). Guests can explore seven restaurants, lounges and bars — from Michelin-starred Pelagos to Taverna 37’s Greek classics, and Mercato’s new winter menus, which reimagine Italy’s traditional cucina povera with modern flair.

This November, Avra bar will host five world-leading Four Seasons bars as part of the 15th annual Athens Bar Show. The on-trend hotspot also unveils the winter edition of its sustainable, ingredients-led cocktail menu—crafted in its on-site mixology lab. Seasonal wellness takes centre stage at the award-winning Spa, inspired by ancient Greek healing traditions. Complemented by adrenaline-fuelled watersports, three tennis courts and a new padel court — plus bespoke boat, cycling and helicopter excursions to Greece’s cultural treasures — the resort cements its status as the ultimate Athens escape.
