London Calling, Athens Answers: Great Sunday Club Returns to Avra at Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens with a Cross-City Mixology Celebration

One night, two cities, six cocktails. The Great Sunday Club returns to Avra at Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens for its 2026 edition, bringing two established city bars to the Athens Riviera. On Sunday, May 3, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Avra Bar Manager Nikos Tachmazis welcomes London’s Satan’s Whiskers and Athens’ Barro Negro for an evening of guest pours and music by the beachfront.

Since 2023, Avra’s Great Sunday Club has become a highlight in Athens’ bar scene, bringing together international mixologists for one‑night collaborations. Bars from cities including New York, Bangkok, Paris and Seoul have joined the Avra team, each presenting a focused selection of signature cocktails that reflect their individual bar identity.

The Opening Edition of 2026: Meet the Bars

Satan’s Whiskers, London

Since 2013, Satan’s Whiskers, ranked #21 in The World’s 50 Best Bars, has set the tone for London’s modern classic cocktail scene. The bar’s commitment to creative evolution shines through its daily-changing handwritten menu and drinks that remain firmly rooted in precision, balance and ingredient‑led simplicity.

Satan’s Whiskers Senior Bartenders Amelie Diaz and Max Pol Bachere will be shaking up three house signatures: East 8 Hold Up, Apple Gin Smash and Honey Mango Daiquiri.

Barro Negro, Athens

Founded in 2019 by George Kavaklis and Stelios Papadopoulos, Barro Negro put Athens on the agave map as the city’s first tequila and mezcal bar. Drawing inspiration from Mexican culture, the bar has featured on The World’s 50 Best Bars list for five consecutive years, most recently ranking #62 in 2025.

Anna Marnierou and George Komninakis take the reins at the Great Sunday Club, mixing agave‑forward serves including the Mezcalita, Paloma and Oaxaca Negroni.

Beats and Bites

Cocktails are served against a sonic soundscape of live beats from Avra’s resident DJ Andy S, carrying the energy from relaxed lounging into sunset and beyond.A selection of sharing-style bar bites is available, including Chicken Nuggets with Chipotle Mayonnaise, Cheese Croquettes with Tomato Marmalade and Mini Beef Burgers with Tartare Sauce.
