Four Seasons Hotel Denver Honours Peggy Coppom
Luxury spa experience, birthday dinner at EDGE Restaurant & Bar, and private black car service
On Friday, November 29, 2024, the University of Colorado Buffaloes played their final home football game of the season against Oklahoma State, winning the game 52-0. To celebrate this year’s historic season, Four Seasons Hotel Denver honoured the University of Colorado’s most famous fan, Peggy Coppom, with a luxury Four Seasons experience.
As Peggy reflects on the amazing year she’s had, she shares her thoughts on her time with Four Seasons Hotel Denver.
"I’m very grateful for the invitation and the first-class experience my family and I enjoyed at Four Seasons Hotel Denver,” says Peggy. “The warm welcome, friendly atmosphere, and excellent service by the entire staff exceeded all expectations. The spa treatment was luxurious, the private dining room unique, and the food superb. Enjoying the beautiful house-made cake and chocolate football was a splendid way to end the evening!"
Peggy was born on November 19, 1924 in Walsenburg, Colorado, a small town of 3,100 people. Upon their move to Boulder in 1940, the family started to sporadically attend CU football games. While Peggy couldn't pinpoint the first actual game they attended, she thought the Buffaloes won, as CU beat Kansas State, Wyoming and BYU at then-Colorado Stadium that season. Peggy also attended CU for one year before deciding to get married and start a family. She began to regularly attend every home game in 1966 and, not counting the 2020 COVID season, has missed just three home games in a span of almost 60 years.
Following the game against Oklahoma State, Four Seasons Hotel Denver welcomed Peggy and her family with a luxury spa and dining experience. The day began with Four Seasons private black car service arriving at her home in Boulder and driving Peggy and her family to the hotel. The family was greeted by the Four Seasons Hotel Denver team and escorted to The Spa for a personalized spa experience. Peggy was joined by her granddaughter-in-law, Stephanie Coppom, for the spa treatments while the rest of her family enjoyed the spa’s lavish amenities including the oversized whirlpool hot tub and natural stone steam room. Peggy opted for the classic pedicure, which offers a calming foot soak followed by a hydrating exfoliation and a relaxing massage. The treatment concludes with a masking of the foot and a lower leg scrub using warm shea butter. Stephanie was treated to the Hydrafacial, an incredibly effective resurfacing and anti-ageing facial utilizing hydra dermabrasion technology. This facial benefits all skin types by improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne, hyperpigmentation, congested pores and uneven skin tone.
Feeling refreshed after the spa, Peggy and her family made their way to EDGE Restaurant & Bar for a private dining experience in the Butcher’s Block. James Leonard, the in-house Sommelier at EDGE, selected a variety of hand-chosen wines to pair with dinner throughout the evening. The family was treated to a variety of dishes including premium cuts of steaks sourced from local ranches, fresh sushi and nigiri, and sides such as the truffle mac-n-cheese, and crispy fried Brussels sprouts grown from local Colorado farms. To cap off the evening, Peggy was presented with a house-made birthday cake to celebrate her 100th birthday with her family. Upon conclusion of dinner, the private black car service returned the family to their Colorado home.
“It was an honour to celebrate Peggy and her family at our beautiful hotel,” says Tim Churchmack, Hotel Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Denver. “Peggy has made such a positive impact on the local community and has become an icon of Colorado. Our team was so excited to meet her, and it was incredible watching everyone take such good care of Peggy and her entire family throughout their visit.”
The University of Colorado has just announced they will be playing in The Alamo Bowl against Brigham Young University on December 28, 2024, their first Bowl Game with head coach Deion Sanders.
