Sips of History: A Journey Through the 1800s at Atrium Bar at Four Seasons Hotel Firenze

February 6, 2025,
Florence, Italy

The team of Atrium Bar at Four Seasons Hotel Firenze is proud to unveil its latest cocktail menu, “Sips of History,” a celebration of the iconic drinks and cultural milestones of the 19th century. Drawing inspiration from an era marked by artistic revolution, the rise of romanticism, and innovations in cocktail crafting, each creation pays tribute to the figures, moments, and places that shaped this transformative period, offering guests a unique opportunity to savour the essence of history in every sip.

“The creation of this new menu has been an exciting journey for us. We envisioned each cocktail as a reflection of a time, a place, and the people who lived it. It’s our way of bringing those moments to life - through flavours, contrasts, and the spirit of an unforgettable era. Every drink is an invitation to connect with history in a way that feels fresh and engaging,” comments Edoardo Sandri, Assistant Food and Beverage Manager of Atrium Bar.

The names of the new cocktails pay tribute to timeless icons, both local and international:

  • Folies Bergère: Inspired by the vibrant energy and glamour of late nights in theatres and café-concerts, this cocktail blends banana, almonds, Altamura Vodka, and Americano Bianco to evoke the spirited atmosphere of a night at the Teatro della Pergola.
  • Yellow Kid: A homage to revolutionary artists and trailblazers, including the creator of one of the world’s first comics. Casamigos Blanco Tequila fuels this cocktail, while almonds and raspberries foam embody the sweetness of bold dreams and the spirit of change.
  • Sherlock Holmes: As Florence transforms after dark into a labyrinth of mystery and allure, this cocktail captures its essence. Crafted with Tanqueray Ten Gin and a hint of quinine cordial, it embodies the bitter whispers of secrets shared within the city’s noble palaces.
  • Dracula: With a bite as striking as a vampire’s, this cocktail blends Michter's Sour Mash and Flor de Caña rum with spices, honouring the timeless classic that still haunts our imaginations. A drink as intense and captivating as the legend itself.
  • The Donut: Originally made without holes, the donut underwent a clever twist that turned it into a timeless favourite. This cocktail, featuring Macallan 12 Whisky, chocolate, nutmeg, and white pepper, celebrates the sweet simplicity of the treat - proving that the best things in life are meant to be savoured, no matter the shape.
  • La Lira: A tribute to Italy’s iconic old currency, this cocktail pays homage to a rich heritage. A vibrant green blend of Cognac, Aquavit, basil, and Artemisia, it evokes a sense of nostalgia for those who treasure Italy’s timeless traditions and cultural legacy.
  • Firenze Capitale: At the height of 19th-century Florence’s power and prestige, the streets were alive with celebratory toasts. This cocktail, blending coffee Vermouth, Amaro Santoni, and a golden touch of saffron, captures the essence of those grand moments, where every sip echoes the city’s vibrant history.
  • La Locomotiva: Inspired by the legacy of George Stephenson, the genius behind the steam locomotive, this cocktail embodies the spirit of progress. A Mezcal-based creation, it evokes the "smoke" of innovation, while fermented mango and mint introduce a contemporary twist, symbolizing the ongoing journey of modernity.

Each drink of Sips of History becomes a protagonist, serving as a voice for the creativity and spirit of a transformative time. More than just a cocktail menu, it invites guests to step into the past and experience the vibrancy of that era, offering a fresh perspective on the past in every glass.

Sips of History will be available from February 6, 2025, only at Atrium Bar. Cocktail price starting from EUR 24. For reservations, contact the reservations office: +390552626450 – dining.firenze@fourseasons.com
