The Nautilus Take Over series invites Nico de Soto, Founder and Owner of Mace Cocktail Bar in New York to be a special guest bartender on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Parisian born and raised, he has made a lasting impression on the cocktail community around the world. He first began bartending in Paris in 2005 where he was trained in the art of classic cocktails. Some notable bars Nico has been part of includes China Club, Mama Shelter, Experimental Cocktail Club, Curio Parlor, Dram and PKNY.
Nico opened his first cocktail bar Mace in East Village in New York, which is ranked 28th best bar in the World at Drinks International World’s Top 50 Best Bars for the second year in a row. His approach to drinks is inspired by cuisine, always trying to create new flavours, combinations and techniques. He was in 2013 named in the top 5 most legendary bartenders in New York by Grandlife and won the award of the Most Influential French Bartender at Cocktails & Spirits Bar Show 2014 in Paris. He also just opened this year in Paris Danico, his new bar inside the Galerie Vivienne, nominated for Best New European Bar at the Bar Convention in Berlin. The same week he was ranked 38th most influential French people in their thirties in French gastronomy. The only bartender in the list of 50 influencers.
