Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru Presents "Castor Landel and the Pineapple Revolution" 2017 Festive Season Theme

This festive season, a reggae-inspired revolution is in the air at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru. Guests are invited to join Castor Landel and Che Giraavár as they plot the liberation of the people of Maintown from the sticky grip of the United Pineapple Company (UPC) - from victory-plotting feasts to liberation treats, it’s a "one love" line-up not to be missed.

Meet the colourful characters of the grassroots-led movement – El Movimiento.  Chill out with Romeo Upmann and the Cigarollo members at the Cigar & Mojito Lounge; get colourful at the Reggae Beach Party with The Roggiefarians; march in union with Las Espadrilles; and join The Buffalo Soldiers, Bici-taxi drivers and more as they prepare to storm the UPC on December 31, 2017: La Noche de la Liberación.

Holiday Highlights

The seasonal celebrations kick off with an uprising of drummers and Castaway Cocktail Party on December 20.  Then there’s the tropical tree-lighting ceremony on December 23; Christmas Tropicana on December 24; eclectic elegance at Havana Cruisin’ on December 27; and Revolutionary New Year on December 31, an evening of big energy and beautiful people, including a midnight countdown in Landel’s jungle hideout where black becomes neon, signalling a bright new beginning.   End each evening with a visit to the Cigar & Mojito Lounge to celebrate the "power of the people" with Mixologist Manuel Catalano and Cigar Aficionado Yadie Dayana of Dayana Tobacco – both specially flown in for the festive period.

Holiday Dining

From Asian Calypso and Oh! Calcutta! to La Noche Y La Langosta and Jamaican Jammin, festive dining is revolutionary in every sense of the word. Prepare for a shake-up of tiki-meets-tropical, birds of paradise, and Pina Mojitos, all set to the "one love" reggae tunes of the likes of Bob Marley tribute act LEGEND, steel pan band, and flute teen sensation Suleiman (winner of India’s Got Talent 2016).  Meet and mingle with Maintown’s movers and shakers at the daily Big Man Snack Shack – serving everything from beef empanadas to jackfruit fritters – before a different event each night, spanning vibrant street market stalls, beach barbecues, island-inspired seafood spreads, and sophisticated festive dining with an Italo-Caribbean twist.

Cool Stuff

Join the football Pineapple Kicking Cup, admire the liberated skies with the resident star gazer, enjoy the music of the revolution – Black Pearl, LEGEND, and Cuban Troubadour Ppito Luis – and win big with the end-of-year sticker game: an island-wide celebration of riotous proportions.  From Liberation Conditioning Training to Teen Pampering and Wake Surf Parties, there’s something for everyone.

Kids’ Stuff

Children of the Revolution are in for unforgettable fun too: liberation adventures and pineapple-overthrowing tales – day and night.  Theme night parties include: Landaa Candy Lane, Moana’s Mystic Adventure, Pokemon Revolution and Neon Night, not forgetting silent advances on Santarina’s Wishing Counter and wild fun at the Great Pineapple Pool Party.

Against a backdrop of calypso, reggae and steel pan drums, guests are invited to indulge in a creative cacophony of happiness and hope, tenacity and togetherness - and some serious festive fun.
