Announcing "Pop Up lakaz maman" with MasterChef UK Winner Shelina Permalloo at Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita This December

Series of culinary events with Four Seasons to provide a sneak peek into renowned chef's modern Mauritian streetfood style for her first UK restaurant lakaz maman opening early 2016

Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita is set to welcome MasterChef UK 2012 winner Shelina Permalloo for a series of tropically inspired culinary events in December 2016 to mark the upcoming launch of her first UK restaurant lakaz maman, which is scheduled to open in Southampton in early 2016.

Since winning the BBC's popular cookery program, Shelina has appeared on many prominent culinary television programs, including a return to MasterChef UK as a food critic, and has penned an award-winning cookbook, Sunshine on a Plate, while recently launching a second cookbook named The Sunshine Diet.

The partnership with Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita will allow Shelina to illustrate the modern Mauritian streetfood culinary style that is the concept behind her new restaurant, with Pop-Up lakaz maman events offering both Resort guests and local food bloggers and Instagrammers the opportunity to interact with Shelina during live cooking sessions, plus a chance to taste a number of her recipes.

Commenting on the upcoming events in Mauritius, Shelina says: "Opening my first street food cafe is a dream in the making. All I've ever wanted to do is share this beautiful cuisine with as many people as I can and firmly put Mauritian food on the map. It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to now showcase some of my recipes at Four Seasons and I am excited to introduce my tropical style to new audiences."

The Pop-up lakaz maman events at Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita will take place on the week commencing Monday, December 14, 2015:

  • Monday, December 14 - Guests of Four Seasons will be invited to an exclusive Mauritian cooking class in the Resort's Cotomili Herb Garden to discover Shelina's top tips on creating exotically infused flavours.
  • Tuesday, December 15 - Playing host to some of the island's most avid food bloggers and Instagrammers, Shelina will prepare a selection of recipes in a special Instameet cooking class and lunch. Follow #lakazmaman for live updates from the event.  
  • Wednesday, December 16 - The Resort's locally -inspired Zilwa Night at Bambou restaurant will feature an extra-special inclusion, with Shelina herself being present at the live cooking stands to assist guests in choosing their preferred flavours from a selection of her dishes.

The partnership with Shelina Permalloo marks the latest in a number of culinary highlights at the luxury Mauritius Resort, following the recent recognition of Executive Chef Nicolas Vienne at the Gourmand Awards 2015 for his latest cookbook Shanghai Flair: The Vision of a French Chef in China.
