Mumbai, India

Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai has, since opening in  2008, made a mark not only in the city with local clients, but also globally in creating an aspirational value among discerning leisure and business travellers.

More recently though, with a stunning set food and beverage focused events involving world-class talent being invited, as well as in-house masters, the Hotel has set a benchmark in creating one-of-a-kind experiences.  In 2017 these have included the 1st Annual World Gourmet Festival held in March, with some of the best known chefs and mixologists creating magic, followed by Sri Lankan culinary master Chef  Dharshan Munidasa’s pop-up dinners in July and a grand finale that saw World’s #2 Chef Massimo Bottura of the famed Osteria Fransescana gracing the kitchens with a specially curated dinner in November.

Also in November, Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai was awarded twice in EazyDiner’s 2nd Foodie Awards 2017, as chosen by Vir Sanghvi, the site’s Chief Editor and Lead Critic.

Best Chinese Restaurant: San:Qi

Although chosen as the Best Chinese Restaurant in Mumbai, San:Qi is in fact a multi-cuisine destination featuring Japanese, Indian and Thai as well.

Set over two floors, the lower level showcases the tandoor and wok kitchens, while the open upper level emulates a contemporary Japanese setting featuring a sushi bar and teppanyaki table. San:Qi has been designed as a contemporary “food theatre.” Sleek interiors integrate open kitchens with bold design statements of glass and wood. Seating is divided between tables and counters with the option of four private dining rooms or the Chef’s Table for more exclusive functions. San:Qi’s sophisticated wine bar links the two floors by an imposing staircase

Chef Lin Lin Yang’s signature Chinese specialities, combining traditional cooking techniques with modern influences are crowd-pleasers with dishes such as the Peking duck and Hunan-style steamed sea bass bringing to life the myriad flavours of China to the plate.

Food and Beverage Person of the Year: Jasjit Singh Assi

Although Jasjit “JJ” Singh Assi is Hotel Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai, responsible for its day to day operations, as Vir Sanghvi notes that as Food and Beverage Person of Year,  “JJ’s greatest achievement is that he has made Four Seasons the happening foodie hotel, once again.”

Assi’s Four Seasons career began in Mumbai, and during his tenure as Restaurant Manager at San:Qi it earned numerous awards and accolades.  After this auspicious beginning, he moved to Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai and then Four Seasons Hotel Sydney as Director of Food and Beverage before his promotion to his current position in Mumbai.
