Sayan, Reframed: Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan Unveils Its First Reimagined Suites

Designed in harmony with the Ayung River valley, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan has long blurred the line between nature and architecture. Building on that vision, the Resort now unveils seven newly reimagined suites, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Ayung River valley and handcrafted Balinese details bring a fresh sense of place.

Following the announcement of the resort's sustainability-led refresh earlier this year, the Forbes Five-Star hideaway is now welcoming guests into the first of its transformed riverside suites. Five Premier Duplex Suites and two Premier Family Suites reflect a thoughtful balance of Balinese artistry and contemporary design, with natural materials and a refined residential feel.

Created in partnership with Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), the interiors celebrate Sayan’s architectural legacy while evolving the experience for today’s traveller. The resort’s iconic suspended rice-bowl architecture and deep connection with the landscape is complemented by hand-loomed textiles and locally crafted details. Each suite’s colour palette is a homage to the views its windows frame: pale, earthy tones inspired by Ubud's rice terraces, grounded by dark stained teak. Integrated smart-living technology, including intuitive LUTRON lighting, disappears quietly into the design.

Premier Duplex Suite: A Two Storey Love Letter to the River

Overlooking the Ayung, the Premier Duplex Suite is Sayan's answer for couples who want room to linger. Across two levels the 85 sq m (900 sq ft) suite unfolds from a light washed dining and living area with floor to ceiling river views, up to a bedroom sanctuary layered in teak and hand-loomed fabric. A private sun terrace invites slow mornings and shared sunsets, with the sounds of the river valley as the only soundtrack. From the woven textures underfoot to the tactile feel of the timber, each design element is a sensorial homage to Balinese craftsmanship.

Premier Family Suite: Ubud for Every Generation

The Premier Family Suite places a thoughtfully designed kids' room at the heart of the experience; a space created for younger guests rather than adapted for them. Positioned in the resort's main building, moments from the restaurants and Sacred River Spa, the suite pairs a generous living area with sweeping views over the river valley. A sanctuary for all the family, it’s a place for parents to unwind and children to explore.

Sustainable by Design

The redesigned suites tread lightly on the landscape that inspires them. Rather than rebuilding, the existing framework has been optimised and refurbished, dramatically reducing the demand for new materials. When needed, new materials were chosen for longevity and sourced locally wherever possible. Next-generation air conditioning uses environmentally responsible refrigerants and the suites’ LED lighting is energy-efficient.

The reimagined suites continue a remarkable run for the resort: an inaugural Michelin Key in 2025 recognising exceptional guest experiences; a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star rating for the relaunched Sacred River Spa, and a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for Ayung Terrace's locally focused cellar. With the resort's jungle-vista dining spaces — Ayung Terrace and Jati Bar — also newly restyled. Sayan’s enduring connection to nature, culture and artistry is being reframed for a new generation.
