CHANEL’s Fragrance-Inspired Afternoon Tea at Four Seasons Japan
An exclusive “art of taste” afternoon tea experience awaits at Four Seasons Hotels Tokyo at Marunouchi and Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto this autumn: a celebration of Chanel’s fragrance, GABRIELLE CHANEL, via elegant French cuisine infused with the essences of natural food perfumes.
From Tuesday, October 15 to Saturday, November 30, 2019, Four Seasons guests in both the east and the west of Japan can savour aromatised menus that delicately reinterpret the passionate and intensely feminine notes of Chanel’s latest scent; described by the iconic French brand as “the fragrance of a radiant woman.”
The creative craftsmanship of Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo Head Chef Hiroyuki Asano and Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto Executive Pastry Chef Yoshihide Hamamoto and The Brasserie Restaurant Chef Ryuji Koga shines through an enveloping selection of delicacies in hues of white and gold, influenced by GABRIELLE CHANEL’s heavenly notes of jasmine, tuberose and ylang ylang and orange flowers.
“It’s been a delight to devise such a creative menu,” says Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto Executive Chef Nicholas Owen, “a real chance to explore the divine dance of sensory pleasures offered by both fine food and perfume. This is the first time that our two Japanese properties have worked together to not only showcase the united craftsmanship of our culinary teams but to offer guests the chance to experience a similar experience in two contrasting settings: the modern fast-paced hub of the capital city Tokyo and the tranquil pond-garden surrounds of the ancient capital Kyoto.”
At MOTIF RESTAURANT & BAR in Four Seasons Tokyo at Marunouchi, the finest French ingredients elevate each savoury mouthful, from a dainty caviar tart sprinkled with silver leaf to caramelised foie gras with jasmine-infused pear confit. Femininity equally infuses every bite of the sweet offerings, with enthralling creations including “Inspiration Passion” cake sparkling with gold leaf; refined pear espuma decorated with Champagne gold sugar; and classic scones sensitively re-envisioned through flavours of white fig and coconut.
Over at The Lounge & Bar in Four Seasons Kyoto, lobster & caviar bruschetta and foie gras quiche headline the silky sophistication of the savoury selection, influenced by Chef Koga’s experiences of classic French cuisine at three-Michelin starred Le Cinq at Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris. The sweet top notes reflect GABRIELLE CHANEL’s subtle yet voluptuous intensity via Executive Pastry Chef Hamamoto’s elegant take on quintessential French flavours including citrus religieuse, blackcurrant jasmin verine and vanilla mille feuille.
A creative drinks menu further enhances each experience, from fragrant mocktails to premium coffees, teas and hot chocolates.
The GABRIELLE CHANEL AFTERNOON TEA is priced is at JPY 8,000 (inclusive of service charge and taxes) and available at Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi from October 15 to November 15, 2019 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm, and at Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto from November 1 to 30, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm and 3:00 to 5:00 pm.
