Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village Announces Spring 2025 Collaboration with Los Angeles-based Stationery Designer Soolip for Series of Bespoke Creative Arts Workshops

Wanda Wen, founder and owner of the globally-recognized paper design studio Soolip, returns to the award-winning Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village to host a lineup of artistic workshops inside the Hotel’s onsite greenhouse.

Available to overnight guests of Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village and to the public, each class will inspire the inner creative through guided demonstrations and classes focused on the art of living with mindfulness, creativity, and of course paper.

Price per class starts at USD 245 per person and includes expert instruction, all materials, light bites, and beverages. Additionally, each ticket includes complimentary self-parking and day-access to the Hotel’s award-wining pool offering, The Cove.

2025 Spring Class Schedule

Wildflower Alchemy: Hand-Dyed Scarves and Textiles with Natural Inks | Saturday, March 22, 2025 | 9:00 am – 12:00 noon

This workshop is perfect for all nature and fashion buffs, anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature, and gets a thrill using what already exists in our natural environment to create beauty.  Guests will be introduced to magical realization of the breadth of colour and artistry amid the surrounding wildflowers. Led by Waldorf educator and author Mona Lewis, this class guides guests through extracting colours from wildflowers, and further inspires the inner scientist by introducing the use of natural modifiers to nuance both subtle and intense variations of the base colours.

Once a rainbow of colours is created, participants will learn how to prepare silk fabric with a mordant enabling the plant-origin colour to adhere to the fibres. Students will then dive into the magic of colour dying both a wearable silk scarf and a silk velvet patch to use as object d’art for the home, or create a unique card for correspondence.

Ink Play | Saturday, April 26, 2025 | 9:00 am –12:00 noon

In this workshop, German artist Mariken van Heugten takes guests by the hand and heart as teaches about the fascinating world of ink, using nature, its shapes, and ethereal organic movement as inspiration. Ink, as a medium, invites a playful, intuitive, and meditative approach to drawing and painting. In this workshop, Mariken shares some of her cherished techniques, offering timeless inspiration to guide and enrich personal exploration and creative expression.

By the end of this workshop, guests will:

  • Enjoy the process of experimenting with ink
  • Discover the many new properties about the materials used, and how to engage with them
  • Create several small size artworks

Paper Play: Stationery and Card Making with Wanda Wen | Saturday, May 10, 2025 | 9:00am – 12:00 noon

This journey into the art of creating personalized stationery uses handmade papers and elements from nature. Participants will explore a variety of creative supplies, including pressed flowers, wax sealing, vintage postage stamps, and printed matter to design unique and beautiful stationery pieces. Guided by Wanda Wen, a life-time paper and nature lover herself, attendees will be inspired to create pieces that are a true reflection of their individual style.

A key focus of the workshop is recognizing and celebrating the inherent beauty found in nature. by utilizing natural elements, participants gain a deeper appreciation for the textures, colours, and intricate details that nature offers.

By the end of the workshop, each attendee will have a collection of personalized note cards (10 pieces) and gift tags (10 pieces) for social use throughout the year. Additionally, each participant will receive a J. Herbin Fountain Pen with two ink colours to add to the 20-piece stationery collection, housed in an attractive keepsake archival linen storage box.
