A passionate custodian of his native Bali, Agus believes the island's greatest treasures are found through its people, stories and traditions. Born and raised in the village of Bongkasa, where the Ayung River shapes daily life, he has spent his career helping people discover the island beyond its postcard beauty. Whether leading a sunrise cycling adventure or sharing local stories at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, Agus loves revealing Bali’s vibrant culture and customs.
As a child, Agus was always on the move, describing himself as “happiest exploring, trying something new and embracing every adventure that came my way”. One moment in particular stayed with him. Watching a guide escort international visitors through his riverside village, he became fascinated by the way one person could open a window into Balinese life for others. It inspired a dream that would eventually become his career: welcoming people from around the world and helping them experience the island through local eyes.
After initially working as a freelance guide, Agus joined Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan in 2014. As Recreation Attendant, he’s both guide and fitness instructor and loves to craft experiences that are as energising as they are enriching. His signature cycling adventures weave through Ubud’s emerald rice fields, jungle paths and traditional villages. Alongside Bali’s landscapes, guests discover its ceremonies, customs and everyday rhythms, “while getting a good lower body workout,” Agus adds with a characteristic smile.
For Agus, every excursion is about laughter shared on the trail, unexpected encounters with local life and creating memories. He’s loved for his quick wit and boundless enthusiasm. “I’d like guests to remember Balinese culture, Four Seasons luxury and having great adventures with me,” Agus laughs.
Being part of the Four Seasons family is one of Agus' proudest achievements. Over the past 12 years, luxury hospitality has taught him the importance of self-discipline, resilience and staying calm in every situation. Both team members and guests know him as hardworking, dependable and endlessly energetic, whether guiding a challenging jungle trek or simply sharing a recommendation for a hidden local temple.
There is nowhere Agus would rather be than Bali's jungle heart. Every journey into the resort feels like coming home, surrounded by the river valleys, rainforest and peaceful atmosphere that have been part of his life since childhood. Away from work, he enjoys staying active in the gym before slowing his legendary pace to spend quality time with his family.
Above all, Agus wants guests to leave with more than beautiful photographs. By sharing his island with authenticity, pride and generosity, he hopes they return home carrying the spirit of Bali with them long after their journey ends.
