At the heart of Thomas Krooswijk’s leadership philosophy lies a deep respect for people, culture and place. A global hotelier with experience across the world’s most vibrant destinations, Thomas brings an intuitive understanding of how meaningful hospitality is crafted—through empathy, collaboration and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

Thomas’s career began in 2001 at The Pierre in New York (formerly a Four Seasons hotel), where he first encountered Four Seasons values that would shape his future. His early years in food and beverage immersed him in the fine details of service—precision, grace and the ability to create emotional resonance through simple, thoughtful gestures. These formative experiences cultivated the leadership style he is known for today: attentive, culturally aware and grounded in genuine human connection.

Over the next decade, Thomas explored diverse markets and broadened his managerial skills before returning to Four Seasons, where he quickly established himself as a transformative leader. As General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Marrakech, he guided the property through a period of creative reinvention. Under his direction, the resort’s rooms and suites were thoughtfully reimagined—balancing contemporary Moroccan aesthetics with a strong sense of authenticity and character. His tenure not only elevated the design and guest experience but also strengthened the spirit of the team, earning the property significant recognition.

Prior to Marrakech, Thomas served as Hotel Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Amman, where he brought an analytical yet deeply human approach to operations. His sensitivity to local culture and ability to unite international teams resulted in remarkable improvements in both guest engagement and team morale.

Today, as General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Bosphorus and Four Seasons Hotel Sultanahmet, Thomas leads two of the brand’s most iconic properties—destinations defined by Istanbul’s meeting of East and West, tradition and innovation. His mission is to honour the city's rich heritage while presenting it through a modern, luxurious lens. Whether overlooking the shimmering strait at Bosphorus or stepping through the marble courtyards of Sultanahmet, Thomas aims to create experiences that embody Istanbul’s singular spirit and the timeless hospitality for which Four Seasons is renowned.

Known for his warm, empowering leadership style, Thomas inspires his teams to think creatively, act with empathy and take pride in the stories they help guests create every day. His multicultural background and experience across continents enable him to build meaningful relationships with colleagues, guests and the broader community alike.

“Istanbul captivates from the very first moment—vibrant, layered, and alive,” he reflects. “For centuries, it has brought cultures together and continues to inspire. Our mission is to capture this essence and blend it with thoughtful design, distinctive experiences, and genuine human connection. We want every guest to feel perfectly cared for and part of the city’s timeless story.”

Thomas continues to guide Four Seasons Hotels Istanbul with vision and heart, championing a culture of excellence, inclusivity and unforgettable guest experiences.
