A creative force in the kitchen with an adventurous spirit and deep roots in hospitality, Derek Simcik brings more than two decades of culinary leadership to his role as Executive Chef at Four Seasons Hotel Nashville. Born in Athens, Greece, and raised with an artist’s eye, Derek originally pursued a career in fine arts before a chance kitchen job set him on a different path. Encouraged by his father, he pivoted into hospitality, earning a Diploma in Hospitality Management with a focus in Culinary from the Art Institute of Washington. Since then, he’s never looked back.

Derek’s culinary journey has taken him across the country, from corporate leadership roles to boutique hotel openings, always driven by a desire to push boundaries and create unforgettable guest experiences. His career includes national culinary direction at Sage Hospitality and Barcelona Wine Bar, regional oversight in the Pacific Northwest with Thompson Hotels, and executive chef positions at distinctive properties such as Hotel Bardo Savannah, The Goodland in Santa Barbara, and The Burnham in Chicago. Along the way, he’s helped launch more than 16 properties, bringing a seasoned eye for detail and a passion for mentorship to each project.

Now calling Nashville home, Derek was drawn to Four Seasons for its commitment to excellence and the opportunity to create something lasting and local. Inspired by the city’s vibrant energy and creative pulse, he aims to establish Four Seasons Hotel Nashville as a cornerstone of the culinary community and an essential destination for both locals and travellers. Whether it’s through thoughtful collaborations with regional chefs, unique culinary events, or dishes that surprise and delight, Derek hopes to spark conversations and connection through food.

Passionate, playful, and deeply loyal to his craft and team, Derek brings both artistry and authenticity to the table. His vision for Nashville is clear: elevate the everyday, celebrate the local, and make the hotel’s food and beverage experiences not only memorable, but meaningful.
