For Shannon Schwier, the path to becoming General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe began with an opportunity that was never intended to become a lifelong career. While preparing for graduate school, she accepted a position as an overnight front desk agent, drawn to a schedule that complemented her academic pursuits. What began as a practical decision soon evolved into something much more meaningful, as she discovered a passion for hospitality, human connection and the art of creating memorable experiences for others.

“I quickly realized that hospitality combined everything I loved most: connecting with people, solving problems and creating moments that guests remember long after they've returned home,” says Schwier. “It felt less like a job and more like a calling."

That passion ultimately led her to a career spanning some of the world's most celebrated destinations and luxury properties. Along the way, she developed a leadership philosophy grounded in curiosity, empathy and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed.

The journey to Santa Fe was fueled by both personal and professional aspirations. Drawn to the beauty, culture and spirit of the American Southwest, Schwier had long envisioned returning to the western United States. Having visited Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe previously, she saw in the property a rare combination of natural beauty, authentic sense of place and intimate luxury.

"There's something truly special about Santa Fe. The landscape, the history, the art and the people create an experience unlike anywhere else. It's a place where guests can feel both inspired and deeply connected to their surroundings,” she says.

Schwier originally joined Four Seasons in 2013 as Director of Housekeeping at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills and has steadily advanced through a series of leadership roles across the company's global portfolio. Her experience includes serving as Director of Rooms at Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, Hotel Manager at Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown, and opening Hotel Manager at Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Fort Lauderdale. Most recently, she was opening Resort Manager at Naples Beach Club, a Four Seasons Resort, where she played an instrumental role in launching one of the brand's most highly anticipated resort developments.

Throughout her career, Schwier has become known for her thoughtful leadership style, operational excellence, and dedication to cultivating high-performing teams. Beyond her primary appointments, she has supported numerous Four Seasons properties through task force and interim leadership assignments, lending her expertise to destinations including The Surf Club, Anguilla, Philadelphia, Beverly Wilshire, and Nashville. She has also contributed to company-wide initiatives focused on enhancing both the guest and employee experience across the Four Seasons portfolio.

A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Schwier holds a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy with a minor in Music from the University of Indianapolis. She has further expanded her expertise through professional development programs and certifications from Cornell University.

Outside the Resort, Schwier's passions reflect the same curiosity and sense of adventure that have shaped her career. A lifelong music enthusiast, she plays several instruments, studied voice for eight years, and performed as a color guard member with Drum Corps International. She and her husband, Christian, share a love of travel and discovering new cultures. At home, she enjoys spending time with her cats, Buster and Poof, and whenever possible, seeks opportunities to observe one of her favorite animals, the orca, in its natural habitat.

Guided by the personal motto, "Be curious, not judgmental," Schwier strives to lead with openness, compassion and authenticity. More than titles or accomplishments, she hopes to be remembered for the meaningful connections she builds, the opportunities she creates for others, and the positive impact she leaves on the people, teams and communities she serves.
