Dining with a View at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles
Set along a flourishing tropical hillside in the South of Mahe Island, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles is blessed with some of the most stunning tropical panoramas in the Indian Ocean. Whether it is a much-needed dose of “vitamin sea” or a longing to dip toes into the azure blue waters at the ocean’s edge, the resort’s pristine white-sand shores and crystal-clear waters are an immediate draw. With an array of delectable dining options to choose from, every venue comes with a side of stunning vistas.
Sky High
“Perched high above the epic Petite Anse Bay, Zez is where you want to start your day, with magnificent views and a lavish breakfast buffet,” says Senior Executive Chef Carlos Rodriguez. The experience is attuned to the vitality of the sea, he explains, as the seating plan is conceived to allow every table access to the view. It’s not just breakfast though – evenings are just as spectacular, with dramatic sunsets and impossibly starry night skies. The Asian menu is a special treat with elevated sharing-style portions of the finest Japanese-inspired foods. From premium sushi and sashimi platters and grilled teppanyaki goodness to the island’s best dumplings, “no amount of wasabi matches the spicy Seychelles scenery,” he smiles.
Fine Favourite
At Koi, on the other hand, an intimate omakase-styled setting is what guests can expect. Eel and sea-urchin, creamy salmon miso and truffle tuna are just some of the exceptional nigiri on offer at this dining-room-with-a-view. The eight-course chef-curated menu impresses and the chef’s team of sushi experts serve it up with a flourish every night.
At Water’s Edge
There are a few other sunset secrets at the Resort though, and for those who favour toes in the sand dining, the beach-side Steak Shack offers the perfect vibe. “Settle down to the sound of the ocean with a wine of your choice, and prepare for some chargrilled perfection,” the chef adds. Prime cuts of dry aged meats and the freshest seafood sizzle on the Josper charcoal grill before being served to the table with chef’s special selection of sides.
The seaside experience here is truly unmatched, and Kannel delivers a true taste of local Seychelles Kreol flavours at this seaside location. On a hot day, the cutting-edge cocktails at Kannel bar can be the perfect way to beat the heat. But come nightfall, it is the lobster casserole served with lemon butter sauce and caviar or the glazed barracuda fillet served with Venere risotto and mascarpone that steal the show. “Seasonal ingredients and a daily fish counter are the stars of the show, but it is the poolside setting overlooking the beach that really does the trick for our guests,” says Rodriguez. Kreol Night is the weekly highlight at Kannel, with Kreol specialties such as octopus curry, coconut rice, grilled meats and sweet treats served with a side of local dancers, also known as Moutya.
Private Dining
For those travelling to celebrate with family or a loved one, the Resort is an especially romantic setting with its hillside villas. “With every single one of the villas, suites, and residences facing the sea and featuring private infinity pools, you can be forgiven for wanting to stay indoors,” says Renan Astolpho, General Manager. An extensive in-room dining menu, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner specials can be served in-villa, or on the wraparound veranda outside with stunning views. “A specially curated Private Beach Dinner for two or more can be organised on the sands of Petite Anse beach with only a private butler and the ocean for company,” he adds.
It's true that dining here complements the dramatic scenery just as well – from hillside sunset soirees, to a table for two with toes tucked in the sand, there’s something for every kind of lover of the quintessential island life.
