In a nation renowned for its sociable, lively nature from day until night, Taverna 37 is the perfect place to discover the Grecian laidback approach to life and dining. This summer, the beachfront haven at Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens broadens its breakfast offerings, meaning guests can enjoy the sparkling sea views, warm hospitality, and vibrant menus for even longer each day.

Two different menus by Chef Theodoros Karinos - Breakfast and All-Day Dining – showcase elevated Greek comfort food, ideal for mid-morning feasting, leisurely lunches, or evening get-togethers set against a pink sunset and live music. Tucked away from the world beside lapping waves, Taverna 37’s relaxed “island” atmosphere makes it a hotspot for locals and Hotel guests alike. An earthy colour palette alongside tactile materials such as wood, wicker and stone create a natural feel in harmony with the surrounding sea and sky.

The revamped Breakfast Menu features Greek favourites such as fresh sheep yoghurt served with local honey and walnuts; strapatsada style eggs – with tomato, feta cheese and oregano – and traditional pancakes called tiganites made with Meteora milk, as well as sweet and creamy galatopita. or milk pie. The signature breakfast dish is the Pie of the Day – local chicken and leek; wild greens and feta; lentil and dried figs - changing daily according to the creative impulses of the Taverna 37 baker.

Greek food afficionados will recognise a home-cooked feel - cultivated during Chef Theodoros’ childhood trips to the bakaliko or grocers with his grandfather – in the All-Day Dining Menu. Diners are welcomed with traditional dips and appetizers such as tzatziki and taramasalata artfully displayed on natural serving platters in warm earth tones.

Chef Theodoros’ signature dish is kolokithokeftedes - crispy zucchini patties with fresh mint and lemon thyme, served with goat kefir relish, while the Taverna 37 dakos features velanidi cherry tomatoes, Santorini wild capers, and Cretan xigalo cheese with barley rusk to soak up the rich flavours. Hot and cold appetizers, colourful salads, fresh fish and cold meats are made for laidback dining at any time of day – the vibe at the heart of the Taverna 37 experience.

“I want to serve our Taverna 37 guests what I would serve to my family,” says Chef Theodoros. “We Greeks are famous for our hospitality and for sharing our food with love. I’m passionate about creating a true taverna experience with Four Seasons luxury - the vibrant flavours, ingredients fresh from the sea or the earth, and the joy of sharing it with friends and family.”

It’s this warmth and familial approach that gives the taverna its intimate feel. Every sunset offers different hues of pink and gold, and there’s no better place to toast them than on Taverna 37’s terrace with its pretty lanterns. Restaurant manager Kyriaki curates a beverage list fit for the occasion: artisan tsipouro and ouzo and a wine list showcasing the best Greek wines. A local bouzouki band plays twice a week, enticing diners to stretch out those daytime hours a little longer, Greek style.
