A pause for fun and hope in the spring sunshine
April 3, 2023,
Athens, Greece

A time of renewal, joyful reconnection, and reflection, Easter is a wonderful opportunity to gather friends and loved ones for meaningful moments. As the spring sunshine sparkles on the gentle waves of the Saronic Gulf, the family-friendly Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens is preparing to offer Easter experiences to treasure for a lifetime.

“The world is returning to normal after a tough few years, but with a new understanding of what really matters,” comments Jann Kaiser, Hotel Manager. “Easter is another reminder of the importance of reflecting on our blessings, and planning for a hopeful future with loved ones. This Easter, we are excited to welcome guests and locals alike to Four Seasons Astir Palace for uplifting celebrations of renewal and reconnection.”

From April 7, 2023, guests arriving at the Athens Riviera icon - awarded its first Forbes Five Star designation in 2023 - will be greeted by abundant displays of seasonal spring flowers by floral artists, Studio 7: a vibrant tribute to Easter as the ultimate celebration of new life. Chocolate Easter eggs and an Asterix colouring book will await little ones, with a full Kids For All Seasons activity program - including egg hunts, Easter cookie decoration, crafts, face painting and more - available across April 7–9 and 14–16, the two weekends spanning Catholic and Orthodox Easter.

A Fresh Easter Beginning for Taverna 37’s New Chef Alexandros Koskinas

On Easter Sunday, known as Great and Holy Pascha, guests and locals alike are invited to an authentic and joyful Greek Easter lunch at Taverna 37: a special menu of savoury and sweet Greek delicacies created by newly appointed Chef Alexandros Koskinas.

Inspired by endless "recipe-seeking pilgrimages" to traditional Greek tavernas — Corfu-born Alexandros is a true purist when it comes to his native cuisine. With kitchen skills honed over 20 years, he works with the country’s best producers and imparts heartfelt emotion into every dish to evoke the most genuine experience of Greek cuisine.

Taverna 37’s Easter Sunday delights start with traditional kokoretsi with oregano and lemon, spetsofai with beef sausages, and dolmadakia: vine leaves stuffed with herby rice. Mains feature whole spit-roasted lamb, pork and chicken kontosouvli, gardoumpakia and tziarosarmades, while traditional treats also extend into dessert, from syrupy orange portokalopita, to yoghurt with sour cherry confit.

Running up to the special day, from Monday, April 10 to Saturday, April 15, Taverna 37 will serve special Saracosti (Greek "fasting") dishes during lunch (1:00-3:00 pm), allowing guests to enjoy good food while retaining respectful reverence for the season.

Making Memories at Mercato

From Thursda,y April 13 to Tuesday, April 18, breakfast gets an Easter twist at Mercato, the Hotel’s upscale Italian trattoria, with fragrant Tsoureki – Easter bread – and egg painting for youngsters.

April 9 marks Catholic Easter at Mercato. A delicious Sunday Brunch showcases Head Chef Sergio Favata and team’s culinary prowess with delights such as Colomba (Italian Easter Cake), a Fish & Seafood Buffet, and a live Tsoureki presentation.

On Saturda,y April 15, diners can break the 40 days of fasting of Greek Orthodox Lent at Mercato with the traditional first meal, Magiritsa upon request. This filling soup made from lamb offal, lettuce and avgolemono sauce is also available through In Room Dining.

Space for Reflection and Awe-Inspiring Adventures

Guests staying over the Easter period will savour the fruits of the surrounding nature from their rooms too, from the sanctuary-like calm of the Hotel’s oceanfront pine-forest setting to the wildflowers blooming in the adjacent hills. It’s the kind of tranquility that allows quiet reflection on the symbolism of Easter - a season of forgiveness, rebirth, gratitude and optimism.

For reflections of the watery kind, adventures await in the infinity-edge pool and free-form family pool, as well as in the Aegean waters that flank the Hotel’s three private beaches - one made famous by Brigitte Bardot in 1969 thanks to a particular pink bikini!

For further introspection and contemplation, the Hotel’s Hippocrates-inspired Spa includes The Fountain House: an adults-only haven with an aroma stream grotto, chill showers, sauna and hammam. Families can unwind together, too, with joint treatments available in the Master Spa Suite.

To honour the beginnings that left such a huge impact on art, politics - and so much more of the world as we know today - the ancient sites of the Greek capital are accessible from the Hotel in as little as 30 minutes. Family friendly walking tours bring Greek gods and heroes to life, while museum-hopping itineraries can be tailored to ages and interests.  For a multi-generational must, opt for a private boat excursion around the azure bays, sleepy villages and hidden coastal gems of the Athenian Riveria.

And at the end of each experience-packed day, modern accommodations prioritise relaxation and care. Options are available for luxury-seeking solo travellers through to Specialty Suites for groups of six, all delivered with legendary Four Seasons service and thoughtful amenities.
