Appreciating Eight Years of Artistry at Four Seasons Hotel Beijing

Celebrating eighth anniversary in auspicious style (including a very special treat for eight lucky guests!)
October 28, 2020,
Beijing, China

Dedicated to culture and creativity – and the first Hotel in the city to hold two Michelin starsFour Seasons Hotel Beijing has fortune on its side as its auspicious eighth birthday approaches on November 8, 2020.

With a series of events and offers planned throughout the month, guests and locals alike have everything to celebrate at the iconic property, lauded for its stylish fusion of treasured tradition and modern mastery. From intriguing ceremonies in its courtyard-style Tea Garden to the installation of 400 butterflies that flutter upwards through it soaring central atrium, everything in this visionary haven unites guests with the dynamic metropolis that lies beyond.

If there’s one way to connect to Beijing, it’s through its thriving art scene. Since it opened in 2012, the Hotel has been on a mission to connect guests to the city’s innovative pool of artists and designers. Hosting an ongoing series of pop-up shops in the Lobby and acting as an exhibition space for visionaries and their masterpieces, the talent showcased ranges from Qin Feng’s unique fusion of ink painting, calligraphy and performance art to Hong Zhu An’s resplendent ink and colour works exploring Chinese art’s quintessential lines.

In 2016, the Hotel took its support of local arts one step further by launching its Art Residency, the first hospitality program of its kind. Committed to elevating young local creatives, the program highlighted the work of contemplative Cui Feng Hua, while the subsequent Young Art Program, launched in 2018, put Vivi Wan’s stunning magic realism in the spotlight.

Meanwhile, the Hotel’s restaurants have dedicated eight years to perfecting culinary artworks of their own, culminating in two Michelin stars in 2019, the inaugural year of Michelin inspections in the city: one each for cutting-edge Cai Yi Xuan and Italian-infused trailblazer Mio.

Further accolades have been enjoyed through the years in the form of TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards (2020, 2019 and 2018); 2019 World's Best Hotels in Beijing by Travel + Leisure; and 2018 Best Gourmet Getaways Hotel by Condé Nast Traveler to name but a few.

With birthdays offering an opportunity for reflection, the Hotel’s auspicious celebration is also a chance to look back on its support of Educating Girls of Rural China (EGRC) – a charity that empowers women in rural regions of Western China to escape the cycle of poverty.  Through annual donations for the past few years from sales of artworks, mooncakes, charity ball tickets, festival cards and more, the team at Four Seasons Hotel Beijing is proud to have supported at least 15 girls through high school education.

The luckiest number in Chinese culture, eight – Ba in Chinese – has a similar pronunciation to Fa, meaning wealth or fortune. In celebration of the Hotel’s good fortune to date, guests visiting throughout the month of November 2020 will benefit from a series of "great 8" promotions, from menu items to accommodation offers to experiences such as the RMB 888 package: comprising an 8-course Michelin-star tasting menu, two bottles of Champagne in any outlet, Spa body treatment, and tea ceremony for four people in the Tea Garden. There’s also a chance to retreat in style with room packages from RMB 1,888 to RMB 88,888: from a romantic stay with Michelin-star lunch to a luxury gathering in the Imperial Suite “palace in the sky."

In addition, November 8, 2020 will see Opus Lounge host a special lunch for invited guests – featuring an eight-metre-long cake by Executive Chef Jackson Wu – while eight lucky guests, who first checked in on November 8, 2012, will be invited back to experience the Hotel again.

“After a surreal year it’s great to take some time to appreciate the achievements of the exceptional team of master craftspeople here at Four Seasons Hotel Beijing,” comments General Manager Christian Poda. “Eight years is a long time to be at the very top of your game, yet every day I’m amazed by their continued commitment and care. This celebration is not only for them but for everyone who has played their part in supporting our Hotel throughout the years.”
