Crossing Over: Annual Classical Concert for Charity by Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai

December 31, 2018,
Chiang Mai, Thailand

Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai presents an evening of classical music - Crossing Over - as part of its annual charity program. Crossing Over is a series of concerts that step over musical boundaries, performed by leading artists from Japan and Thailand and the January 2019 concert tour schedule includes Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Bangkok.

For the first time in Thailand, Japanese star and accordion artist Kanako Kato will join leading Thai violin virtuoso Dr Tasana Nagavajara to present a unique sound of a chromatic accordion together with the violin – a combination very rarely performed in Thailand.

This unusual program consists of various styles of compositions such as old Viennese dance music by the King of Waltz Johann Strauss, contemporary tango by the world-famous Astor Piazzolla, a fiery folk dance from the land of Hungary, the ground-breaking song Bohemian Rhapsody by Freddie Mercury of the legendary Queen, and an original contemporary composition written for the solo accordion by Kanako Kato herself.

Meet the Artists

Kanako Kato started playing the accordion at the age of four and has been receiving critical acclaim since. She won various Japanese national accordion contests, then she studied music in France, winning several competitions in Europe. In Japan, Kanako regularly performs her own Japanese compositions mixed with Northern European folk music. Her compositions have also been used in film and commercial productions. In addition, Kanako is the presenter of Roland's V-accordion FR-1.

Dr. Tasana Nagavara is no stranger to music lovers in Thailand with a long and continuous creative musical history. Tasana studied and performed in Europe and the United States for more than ten years. He has performed in major concert halls and music festivals across five continents with world-class artists such as the late Yehudi Menuhin. Currently, Tasana is the musical director of the Pro Musica Orchestra and is an active music lecturer at Silpakorn University.

The evening’s entertainment commences at 5:30 pm on January 26, 2019 and is priced at THB 990 nett including refreshment.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Numpon Orphanage House in Sansai District. Tickets are available for purchase at Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai by contacting +66 53 298181 or contactus.chiangmai@fourseasons.com
