Chiang Mai, Thailand

Four Seasons Resorts Thailand are perfectly suited for multi-generational and family travel with a range of accommodation and dining experiences, in addition to enriching resort activities that bring the family together. At each of the resorts, young guests aren’t an afterthought as they offers a series of well-designed activities for both teenagers and children to connect with Thailand’s vibrant culture. A dedicated Kids Club and an exceptional team ensures that each experience is fun as well as safe: “Certainly one of the main reasons so many families return to our resorts year after year,” smiles Anthony Gill, General Manager, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai and Tented Camp Golden Triangle.

Close to Nature

With its very own working rice fields, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai offers a valuable opportunity to experience the farming culture of Northern Thailand. “Children and adults alike learn about the fascinating journey of rice and see the hard work that goes into farming,” Anthony says. The La-On Kids Club team takes the young guests for an educational walk in the fields, where they observe first-hand how rice is grown. Along the way, they also get to meet the Resort’s famous resident buffaloes. At the rice museum, children explore different types of rice and their benefits. Finally, they join the farmers to plant rice sprouts in the paddies. Needless to say, they love splashing around! One of the most popular experiences? “Yes – along with buffalo bathing! Families love to bathe our resident buffalos, who are very shutter-friendly!” laughs Anthony.

For the upcoming summer break, the Resort offers an exciting Family Escape with savings on accommodation, guaranteed upgrade, daily breakfast and the option of a Resort credit of THB 1,500 or a spa experience at Wara Cheewa Spa. What’s more? Children eat and stay with the Resort’s compliments to ensure a perfect getaway.

Glamping Adventure

Further up north and into the magical bamboo jungles of the Golden Triangle, guests can Go Glamping when they stay two nights or more. With only 15 tents and a two bedroom Explorer’s Lodge, Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle provide the perfect hideout, away from the bustling city-scape. The unique nature of the Camp’s design makes it suitable for children over the age of 10 years. “We have a range of dining and spa experiences, as well as in-camp and destination exploration to keep families engaged during their time with us,” says Tobias Emmer, Camp Manager. Of the local gems recommended by the team, a favourite is learning fishing techniques along the Mekong River, developed over thousands of years. “Our ‘Fishing with Locals’ trip allows you to try first-hand fish trapping and bamboo fishing with local fishermen from the region. Boating along the Ruak River, which straddles the borders between Thailand, Myanmar and Laos, offers a unique insight into the local way of life,” he shares.

Into the Blue

Getting in touch with the local experiences is very much part of the ethos of travelling with Four Seasons Resorts Thailand. Down south on the pristine island of Koh Samui, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui offers a rare insight into the marine ecosystem. The waters around the Resort are home to vibrant coral gardens and rich marine life, waiting to be discovered and appreciated by explorers from around the world. "Coral Talk, conducted by our on-site marine biologist Benjawan Sansittisakunlird (Khun Benji), is an educational session where families learn all about the coral reef and sustainability," shares Sean Mosher, General Manager. After the Coral Talk, guests can embark on a snorkelling trip along the reef that adjoins the Resort. Those who want to immerse more deeply in underwater life can learn about the coral conservation efforts at the Resort – a project being undertaken under the sponsorship of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR).

Families can take advantage of the upcoming holidays with an Island Getaway in their luxurious pool villa, enjoy in-villa breakfast and choose from a Resort credit of THB 1,500 to savour the delectable dining or a relaxing spa experience at the award-winning The Secret Garden Spa. Here too, children eat and stay with the Resort’s compliments.

At both Chiang Mai and Koh Samui, there’s a reason to stay longer and make the resorts a home-away-from-home. “With expansive pools, dining and living areas and multiple bedrooms, our Private Retreats are residences that you can call home,” shares Sean. With additional benefits such as round-trip transfers and dining experiences, these Private Retreats allow for social interaction, while still offering enough seclusion, privacy and comfort that is much-needed in these times.

“The health and safety of our employees and guests remain paramount,” says Anthony. “We look forward to welcoming you back – with utmost care,” adds Sean.
