Four Seasons Hotels in the UAE Go Bananas for a Great Cause

Four Seasons Emirati Collection announces the launch of a three day event from April 16 to 18, 2018, whereby three hotel bars will accept an overripe banana in exchange for a SUPERHERO cocktail. A fun and sustainable approach to hospitality, the offer will be available at Butcher & Still at Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island, Luna Sky Bar at Four Seasons Hotel Dubai International Financial Centre, and Hendricks Bar at Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach.

The SUPERHERO cocktail has been introduced Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts across the globe and is the brainchild of Marco Corallo, Bar Manager of Hendricks Bar at Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, and UAE finalist of the prestigious Bacardi Legacy Cocktail Competition.   The motivation behind the creation of the SUPERHERO cocktail is to make a contribution to decreasing food wastage. A shocking 45 percent of the global food production is wasted daily and SUPERHERO is making an active effort to decreasing that number by using fruits that would be seen as not appealing, even though they still retain great flavour and are edible; black-spotted bananas, overripe mangos and sweet pineapple puree are main ingredients of the cocktail. Part of the revenue generated from the SUPERHERO cocktail is also donated to a chosen charity – in the UAE, this is the Emirates Red Crescent.

Marco Corallo says, “Bartending is my passion, my life but the SUPERHERO project goes beyond bartenders. Every level of hospitality industry could be involved. It takes very small step to start to change but we can make it happen one cocktail at a time, one SUPERHERO at a time.”

SUPERHERO recently won the UAE national final of the prestigious Bacardi Legacy cocktail competition (out of 158 entries) and soon will be represented in Mexico City for the global final.
