Moonlight Market Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina Offers Festive Evening with Artisanal Flair

Four Seasons Moonlight Market returns with more local vendors and a wide array of gift giving options for the holiday season

December 13, 2016,
Hawaii, Oahu, U.S.A.

On Thursdays, December 22 and 29, 2016 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina will present Moonlight Market, a magical evening of shopping featuring acclaimed Hawaiian artists and artisans in a curated exhibition surrounding an original art installation in the Resort's Atrium, designed exclusively for Four Seasons festive season in Ko Olina by Manaola Hawaii, punctuated by the white and gold of the holiday season.

In two new iterations, Four Seasons Moonlight Market will showcase 14 local vendors, adding Ha'a Keaulana Collection, Salty Western, Issa 'de Mar, Kean Arts and the Resort's own Caprice and Wili Wili to an exceptional list of quality purveyors in the Resort's stunning Atrium, illuminated by the festive glow of three gold metal tree sculptures representing the Hawaiian creation story, surrounded by candlelight and white poinsettias.

The Moonlight Market brings an artisanal flair to gift giving, inviting Resort guests and residents to shop and sip champagne with some of Hawaii’s most acclaimed artists and designers. Guests can also opt to "shop and dine" enjoying crab claws and prime rib, authentic dim sum and adobo and a build-your-own ramen bar at the La Hiki Asian Night Market Buffet, with dishes served up by local Chef Jobbie Domenden from Moloka’i.

Among the featured exhibitors are lauhala weaver Aloma Wang, painter Jan Tetsutani, aloha wear designer Jana Lam (featured at the White House in August), designer Manaola Yap, Ni'ihau shell jewelry designer Kuana Torres Kahele, ohe kapala and bone makau and ko'i jewelry designer Na Maka Kahiko, floral and haku lei maker Ocean Dreamer, Na Ulana Lau Niu coconut weaver Jordan "Koko" Koeger, and unique baby gifts by Hi’ilani and home décor and lifestyle items from Island Bungalow Hawaii.

More than a shopping excursion, Four Seasons Moonlight Market is an immersive cultural experience showcasing the wide array of talent on Oahu’s west side that is part of the Resort’s new #FSWayfinders program.

#FSWayfinders, inspired by ancient Polynesian navigational tradition, is an ongoing weekly series featuring art, culture, history and in-depth workshops at the new Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina. The recently launched program showcases myriad experiences related to Hawaii and the Pacific, weaving together traditions of the past with an occasional modern spin. Workshop opportunities include bamboo wood carving, haku lei making, lauhala weaving, ancient healing practices and sarong dying, to name a few.

“Oahu’s western coastline is home to revered cultural storytellers, artisans, and crafters,” says Four Seasons Resort Oahu General Manager Sanjiv Hulugalle. “From watermen to kupuna, artisans to designers, these kama’aina are the breath of life to Hawaii. Our Moonlight Market brings the full #FSWayfinders collective together and the festive season offers us the perfect opportunity to share this rich culture with the community in a larger way. We’re taking the stress out of holiday shopping and turning it into a one-of-a-kind cultural experience for guests and visitors alike.”

From paintings to jewelry, clothing, home decor and keiki apparel, Moonlight Market makes Ko Olina a must-do for holiday shopping. Visitors can interact freely with the island’s most coveted designers and artists, while sipping champagne or opting for a truly decadent treat in the form of hot chocolate created by Four Seasons chefs and available exclusively at Hokulea Cafe & Mod Bar until January 3, 2017.

Made from 100 percent Hawaiian chocolate sourced from Kauai and the Big Island, coconut milk, and cinnamon marshmallow garnished with Waiola's toasted chocolate coconut chips, Hokulea's hot chocolate is an irresistible treat embellished on request with Kohana's Kokoleka Dark rum, made from raw Hawaiian honey, pure Hawaiian cacao, and hand harvested single varietal sugar cane spirit.

The market is open to all ages.
