“My favourite aspect of our industry is the opportunity to travel and see the world,” says Konrad Gstrein, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas.

Growing up in a major Austrian skiing destination in the Ötztal Valley of the Central Eastern Alps, Gstrein was exposed to travel and tourism early in his life. After finishing his formal education, he took a position at a local tourism office in sales, focusing on Eastern Europe and emerging markets. “When the prospect to join Four Seasons Maui presented itself in 2001, this once-in-a-lifetime invitation was also one of the most intimidating,” he says. “Leaving my winter playground to live on the opposite side of the globe was a huge leap of faith. But I jumped at the offer to work in paradise for one of the world’s greatest hospitality brands.”

Gstrein’s Four Seasons career grew on the Rooms side of operations, serving several properties. He was promoted to Resort Manager in a return to Maui in 2012; then Hotel Manager at Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills in 2014. He achieved his first General Manager role in Toronto in 2017, and then to General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco in 2021. More than two decades later, Gstrein is proud to have built a successful leadership career with the brand, culminating in his role as Regional Vice President and General Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas.

“Las Vegas is a very unique, globally influential city. It’s fast, trend-forward and constantly reinventing itself,” says Gstrein. “Four Seasons offers a tranquil sanctuary in the middle of the most exciting sports and entertainment destination in the world.”

His first two years mark momentous transformations for the Hotel, with a redesign of guest rooms and suites and the introduction of a new restaurant concept leading into the 25th anniversary of the property. In addition, Las Vegas will host two of the world’s biggest sporting events, Formula 1 and Super Bowl LVIII. “I am thrilled to be part of this incredible team as we embark on an exciting new chapter of exceptional offerings for our guests,” he says.

Las Vegas is a long way from home for Gstrein, and desert living is a new experience for him, husband Jason, and yellow Labrador retriever Cooper. All three love the outdoors and enjoy exploring new areas to run, hike and ski in Las Vegas and the surrounding national parks and nature reserves. The youngest of seven children, his family didn’t travel much. But growing up in a tourist destination cultivated his interest in travel, which he discovered through reading, television and movies. “I grew up wanting to explore the world.”
