Swim with the Fish in King's Pond at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai

A 1.8-million-gallon (6.8-million-litre) lava rock aquarium, home to 4,000 tropical fish and spotted eagle rays

Hawaii, Hualalai, U.S.A.

King’s Pond at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is a place where humans and fish swim as one. Carved from lava rock and filled with white sand, this giant aquarium is home to more than 4,000 tropical fish from more than 98 species swimming freely -  including a spotted eagle ray.

Snorkelling gear is available if you didn’t bring your own, and so are float boards with windows for those who’d rather stay close to the surface. SNUBA, a combination of snorkeling and diving, allows guests to explore King’s Pond from new depths and experience the Hawaiian fish up close. Guests are encouraged to bring kids along for eagle ray feeding at designated times, and can enjoy scheduled activities such as fish feedings, snorkeling lessons, touch tank exploration, sand castle building and the popular “fish circus.”

Fresh and ocean water combine via subterranean channels to fill the pond, which moves along with the tide. Guests may also simply lounge pond-side, in the adjacent whirlpool or enjoy signature food and beverage service. This free-form pool measures from 3 to 15 feet (1 to 1.6 metres) in depth.
