Koh Samui, Thailand

At Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, kids aren’t an afterthought. The Resort offers a series of well-designed activities for both teenagers and young children to connect with Thailand's vibrant culture. A dedicated Tree House Kids Club and exceptional staff ensure that each experience is loads of fun as well as safe: "This is one of the main reasons so many families with children return to our Resort year after year," smiles Shivan Pillay, Director of Rooms and Residences.

Shivan recommends experiences that kids can immerse in during their stay at the Resort:

Muay Thai

Designed for children between 4 and 15 years old, these energy-packed lessons include games to keep children focused, active, attentive, while enjoying their time in the Resort's hill-top Muay Thai training ring. Besides learning the basics of Muay Thai techniques, it also helps kids develop flexibility, strength and coordination with a strong element of fun and enjoyment. "In the class, we try to encourage independence, responsibility and develop confidence through specific Muay Thai activities based on the key Martial Arts principles of discipline, respect, integrity and trust," explains Shivan.

Coral Conservation

The waters around the Resort are home to vibrant coral gardens and rich marine life, waiting to be discovered and appreciated by explorers from around the world. "Coral Talk, conducted by our on-site marine biologist, Aorn Sillapasathitwong – is an educational session where children learn all about the coral reef and sustainability," shares Shivan. After the Coral Talk, the children can embark on a snorkelling trip along the reef that adjoins the Resort. Those who want to immerse more deeply in underwater life can learn about the coral conservation efforts at the Resort – a project being undertaken under the sponsorship of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR).

Resort Garden and Landscaping Tour

The Resort's 17 hectares (42 acres) feature 856 coconut palms and 150 varieties of plants, all on a former orchard of durian, jackfruit, and mango trees. "Children can go on a tour of our landscape with our gardening team to discover the diverse tropical flora that abounds our Resort," shares Shivan.

Family Cooking Class

The chef of KOH Thai Kitchen invite the entire family to learn the nuances of Thai cooking. During this three-hour session, guests will learn how to prepare four of the most popular Thai dishes. "Our chef will demonstrate how to cook the dish, after which it is time to get down to the hard work and have a go yourself," smiles Shivan, "For the children, the best part is, of course, enjoying the dishes they have created!"
