Art in the Palm of Your Hand
For many travellers, a chance to see regional art is as important as sampling the local cuisine. The diverse art collection at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita includes paintings, sculptures and other pieces by Mexican artists including the local Huichol people, as well as international artists with a special connection to the country and its culture.
Now, a new Art Walk app puts a customised art tour around the Resort’s beautifully landscaped grounds in the palm of your hand. Available in Spanish and English, the App describes 31 artworks in detail, with an interactive map allowing art lovers to create a self-guided tour of the entire collection, or access information as you happen upon different pieces during the course of your stay.
Highlights of the collection featured in the App include Las Gigantas by locally-born sculptor/painter Adolfo Riestra, a pair of large stone figures in the Resort’s open lobby; the beaded piece titled Vestido by Polish-Mexican artist Xawery Wolski; Rompiendo Estructuras, a cast sculpture in the gardens outside one of the accommodations buildings by Guadalajara-born Lizette Aguilar; and La Familia, a sculptural installation rising from a shallow pool that welcomes guests to Four Seasons (shown above), created by Alicia Bueno, who was born in Mexico City and now makes Puerto Vallarta her home.
