For those looking to swap snowboards for surfboards and hot toddies for refreshing Mojitos, it’s time to celebrate the festive holidays at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo, where fun in the sun, delectable dining and incredible entertainment await. The Forbes Five-Star rated Four Seasons boasts a premier peninsula location, luxurious amenities, and activities to delight all ages. Experience a tropical festive season escape where numerous daily activities, from adventurous pursuits to entertaining classes, are available alongside countless ways to relax. New this year for outdoor recreation enthusiasts to enjoy is the Peninsula’s beautiful Palmares Adventure Outpost, debuting this November, in time for the holidays.

“Guests will love celebrating the holidays with us at Four Seasons Costa Rica, as there is truly something for all ages to enjoy on our expansive resort grounds,” says Ian-Robert Ciappara, General Manager. “We look forward to welcoming new and returning guests with brand-new experiences combined with beloved holiday traditions, including everyone’s favourite party with Santa on the beach.”

The Palmares Adventure Outpost, an ideal activity for families, is home to a thrilling Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) certified aerial adventure zipline course, that will have just opened its doors to guests after months of preparations. Arriving at the recreation area’s modern bamboo basecamp, guests are greeted by a specialized team of Papagayo Explorers guides and naturalists. The ziplines take one through the tree canopy on seven different cables ranging from 50 to 150 yards (46-137 metres), and across two 100-foot-long (90 metre) hanging bridges. The aerial trekking course provides the ultimate challenge, with 21 obstacles arranged in circuits of increasing difficulty, and there’s also assisted tree climbing on a massive ficus tree. A suspended cable stairway leads to an observation platform, where guests will enjoy sweeping views of the forestation, and may see native animals, including tropical birds and monkeys that call the lush Palmares Forest their home.

In addition to the many outdoor activities and tours available in the Costa Rican rainforest, there are also ample water activities, including surf lessons, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, snorkeling, parasailing and more. Throughout the year, the on-site SurfX surf school is an ideal learning location for all ages and abilities. Whether first-timers or pros seeking to refine their skills, guests can choose from some of Costa Rica’s most famous surfing locations, experiencing the nearby waves at Playa Prieta, Playa Iguanita and Witch’s Rock, or taking an excursion to other renowned nearby beaches. The one-to eight-hour sessions offered by SurfX always include personalised coaching, and with Costa Rica’s year-round warm waters, no wetsuit is ever required. On land, guests can experience the Resort’s new Surf Flow class, a blend of yoga, animal flow, and Pilates, focused on upper body strengthening, core stability and hip flexibility. This custom fitness class, developed by Wellness Ambassador Jose Pablo Rodriguez, perfectly complements one’s practice in the waves.

Guests seeking to connect with the culture of Costa Rica will enjoy the Resort’s complimentary classes, including an educational rum tasting, coffee class, and hand-painted pottery Chorotega Experience. Families with young children ages 5 and older will be fully entertained at the Kids For All Seasons program, a full-day complimentary kids club, offering crafts, games and active outdoor play.

Retreating to the Resort after a day of adventure or relaxing pool- or beachside, guests will take comfort in their beautiful guest room or suite, each featuring an ocean view. Expansive screened terraces add to the room’s appeal and provide additional space to unwind and relax, where one can listen to the serene sound of ocean waves. The luxurious Canopy Suites provide a more secluded tropical setting, with a luxe private plunge pool, breezy canopied beds and spacious terraces to soak in the view from the gorgeous, elevated suite. For the ultimate in privacy and luxury, Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica boasts an array of Private Retreats - spacious three-to-six-bedroom private residences available to reserve, each featuring incredible amenities such as infinity pools, gourmet indoor and outdoor kitchens, media rooms and more. The residences provide the ideal layout for a holiday retreat with the whole family. The recently debuted Casa Las Olas, the Resort’s signature six-bedroom residence, features a stunning infinity-edge pool jutting out over Prieta Bay, and a striking bilevel modern design complete with interior open-air tropical courtyard, media room, private gym and more. For multigenerational family travel over the festive season, an array of residential and connecting rooms and suites ensures the perfect arrangements for the whole family. Private chefs, personal attendants, and nannies can be arranged to make the experience truly special.
