Bill Taylor has learned something about putting together a memorable guest experience during his years with Four Seasons, and it’s surprisingly uncomplicated. “At the end of the day, everybody wants to be tended to by people who care about them and are genuine,” says the Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong. “It doesn’t matter your net worth or your background. When it comes to that intangible service element, we’re all looking for the same thing.”

Taylor currently serves as Regional Vice President for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, overseeing key properties in Shenzhen and Guangzhou in his first appointment in Asia.

“I am excited to be able to contribute to the success of Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, one of the world’s truly iconic hotels. There is rich legacy to draw upon as we chart our course for an exciting future ahead.”

Taylor’s strength in the industry has been providing an environment in which his 900-plus employees in Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong can simply do right by their guests. Under his watch, ideas are encouraged and everyone has the opportunity to shine.

The son of a local doctor in Newcastle, England, Taylor secured his first job as a dishwasher at age 16. When he revealed to a career counsellor that he enjoyed the esprit de corps of restaurant work, the wise fellow recommended hotel studies, which Taylor pursued in London.

His hospitality career developed from first-hand experience, starting in food and beverage, proceeding to rooms, and then landing an entry level spot behind the front desk of The Ritz-Carlton Chicago (formerly a Four Seasons hotel) before ultimately working his way up to Regional Vice President. “It took me a while, but I’ve learned to surround myself with people who are very creative,” he notes of his current managerial talent. “Taking that creativity and making it work is key in the hotel business.”

An avid golfer and frustrated yet fanatical fan of the Newcastle United Football Club, he spends his downtime with his three children or working with charitable organisations. He is an active participant in the local community in where he resides and will ensure he spreads the spirit of giving to his employees.
